ESD payment stuck on 'processing' for week ending 4/22 - system errors when calling
Has anyone else NOT received their unemployment payment for the week ending 4/22? Mine's been stuck on "processing" for 5 days now. Normally it deposits by Wednesday at the latest. When I try calling the 6022 number, I get this weird automated message about "March 10th testing in the UW West Library" and then it disconnects me! I thought maybe it was something with my account, so I tried entering a different SSN (just random digits) and got the EXACT SAME error message. I've tried calling the main number at least 20 times but can't get through to a real person. Governor Inslee's office suggested I contact SAW tech support, but this doesn't seem like a SAW issue since I can log in fine. Bills are due next week and I'm getting really anxious. Anyone else dealing with this or know how to actually reach a human at ESD?

•Friday would be better than nothing! Did you have to do anything special or did it just eventually process?

This sounds like the system-wide glitch that ESD has been experiencing since their April update. The UW West Library message is definitely an error - it's referencing their system testing environment that shouldn't be in the production system. A few things to try: 1. Check your claim status through eServices rather than calling 2. Look for any pending issues or adjudication notices in your account 3. File a technical support ticket through the ESD website (not SAW support) 4. Try calling exactly at 8:00 AM when they open I've heard several reports of payment delays this week, but most are eventually processing. The telephone system errors are a separate issue they're working on.

•Thank you! I've been checking eServices multiple times daily and there's no adjudication or pending issues showing. It just says "processing" under payment status. I'll try the 8AM call tomorrow and submit a tech support ticket tonight.

I got mine yesterday but my buddy is having the same issue as you. ESD is so incompetent I swear, they do these system "upgrades" and everything breaks!!! They need to hire actual IT people instead of wasting our tax dollars.

•it's not incompetence, it's BY DESIGN. they make it hard to get benefits so fewer people collect. my cousin works for state govt (not esd) and says they deliberately underfund unemployment systems. wake up people!!

I work with unemployment claims professionally, and there is indeed a known issue with the payment processing system this week. Some payments are being delayed by 3-5 business days. The good news is that they are still processing, just slowly. As for the phone system error, that's a separate issue. The "UW West Library" message is accidentally being played from their test environment. They're aware of it and working on a fix. If you need to reach an actual person at ESD quickly, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you get through to ESD agents without waiting on hold for hours. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 I've referred several clients to them when they were in similar situations with urgent payment issues.

•I used Claimyr last month when I couldn't get through to resolve my adjudication issue. It worked really well - got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes after trying on my own for days. Definitely worth it when you're desperate to talk to someone at ESD.

Mine was late too!!! It finally came through yesterday even though it was showing as "processing" for almost a week. The ESD payment system is clearly having issues. I've been on unemployment for 3 months and this is the first time it's been this late. Did you file anything differently last week? I started a part-time job and reported some earnings, wondering if that's what caused the delay for me.

•That's a relief to hear yours eventually came through! No, I didn't do anything different with my claim last week - same job search activities, no earnings to report, nothing changed. That makes me think it's definitely their system having issues.

There's a bulletin on the ESD website now about payment delays. They just posted it this afternoon. It says: "Some claimants may experience payment delays of 3-5 business days for the benefit week ending April 22, 2025. This is due to scheduled system maintenance that took longer than anticipated. Payments are processing in the order received and no action is required from claimants at this time." So it looks like you should receive your payment by early next week at the latest. The phone system issue is mentioned as a separate technical problem they're fixing.

•Thank you so much for checking and letting me know! I didn't see that bulletin when I logged in earlier today. That's a huge relief - at least now I know what's happening and that I don't need to keep calling them.

•Good point! I'll make sure to file on time this Sunday regardless of whether this payment has come through or not.

Wait so is this affecting everyone or just some people? I filed for that week too but got paid normal on Tuesday

•According to the bulletin, it's affecting about 30% of claimants, not everyone. It seems to depend on when you filed your weekly claim and which processing batch you ended up in.

My sister had this EXACT problem last month!!! The payment was late and then when she finally got through to someone they said there was a "system flag" on her account even though nothing showed up online. They had to manually remove it. You NEED to talk to an actual person. Keep calling!!!

•Oh that's concerning. How long was her payment delayed before she got through to someone? I'm worried that if there's a flag on my account it won't resolve itself.

•It took her like 9 days to get the payment. She called every single day for hours. Super frustrating! But once she got through to someone they fixed it right away.

Just got off the phone with ESD (finally got through after calling at exactly 7:59am). The representative confirmed they're having both payment processing delays AND phone system problems. She said payments are taking up to 5 business days longer than usual for many claimants. For anyone else experiencing this: she recommended NOT calling multiple times as it's creating additional system load. Instead, check your eServices account daily for updates. If your payment doesn't arrive by next Tuesday, then you should call. The weird UW Library message is a known issue where their test system voice prompts are accidentally playing in the production phone system. They expect to have it fixed by Monday.

•Thank you SO MUCH for this update! This is really helpful information. I'll hold off on calling again and just keep checking my account. Fingers crossed it comes through by early next week.
