ESD password reset locked me out of SAW account - can't file weekly claim!
Ughhh I'm freaking out! The system made me change my SecureAccess Washington password yesterday (something about it being 90 days old) and now I can't even log into my account! Every time I try to access my SAW account it says "account temporarily locked" but I KNOW I'm using the right password. I've tried the password reset option like 3 times but never get the reset email. My weekly claim is due tomorrow and I absolutely cannot miss filing. Has anyone dealt with this nightmare recently? Any tricks to get back in? I'm seriously panicking about missing my payment.

•Oh great... I already tried clearing cookies too. Did you ever get back in? What ended up working???

The SAW and ESD systems have been extra glitchy lately. I think they did some kind of update that broke things. Try these steps: 1. Use a completely different browser (if you're on Chrome, try Firefox or Edge) 2. Clear ALL browsing data including cookies and cache 3. Wait at least 1 hour between login attempts (the system sometimes has a hidden lockout timer) 4. Make sure you're going directly to secure.esd.wa.gov and not clicking through from an email link If none of that works, you've got to call ESD directly at 800-318-6022. They can verify your identity and manually reset your account.

•Thank you SO much! I'll try the different browser thing right now. If that doesn't work I'll have to call tomorrow, but I'm worried I'll be on hold forever and miss my filing deadline.

The SAW password reset glitch is a known issue that ESD still hasn't fixed properly. I had the EXACT same problem two weeks ago. None of the self-service options worked for me either. I finally reached an actual agent using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). It basically holds your place in the phone queue and calls you back when an agent is about to answer. Saved me hours of waiting. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. The ESD agent I spoke with had to manually unlock my account on their end and confirmed the automatic password reset system has been causing problems. Good luck!

•I've never heard of Claimyr before but at this point I'll try ANYTHING. Just checked out the demo video. Did they actually call you back when they said they would? I'm desperate and can't miss this weekly filing.

Yes, they actually did call back! I was skeptical too but it worked exactly as advertised. The agent I got was able to verify my identity and manually reset my account access. Just make sure you have your claim ID number and SSN ready when they call.

Just wanted to mention that even if you can't get your account fixed TODAY, you have 7 days from your scheduled filing date to submit your weekly claim. It's not ideal but you won't lose your benefits if you file a day or two late. The ESD website even states: "If you miss your filing day, you can file on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday of that week." So don't panic too much!

•This is incorrect information that could cause serious problems. The 7-day grace period only applies to certain situations, not account lockouts. If you miss your weekly filing due to an account access issue, you need to call ESD directly and explain the situation. Otherwise, your claim could be flagged for an unnecessary adjudication review, which might delay payments for weeks. Always call if you're having account access issues that prevent filing. Don't just wait and file late without explanation.

UPDATE: I'm finally back into my account! For anyone else having this issue, here's what worked for me: 1. Used the Claimyr service mentioned above (it actually did work) 2. ESD agent confirmed there's a system-wide issue with password resets right now 3. They had to manually unlock my account from their end 4. Had to create a completely new password that didn't share ANY characters with my previous 3 passwords (that was the issue!) So relieved I can file my weekly claim now. Thanks everyone for your help!

I had this same issue last month and wasted HOURS trying to fix it myself. This password reset problem has been happening since they updated the system in December. ESD knows about it but hasn't managed to fix it yet. Something else to try - if you're using a password manager or autofill, turn it OFF completely. Sometimes the system rejects saved passwords even when they're correct. Also check if your caps lock is on (I'm embarrassed to admit this was my problem once). BTW I've been on unemployment for 4 months now and the system has had some kind of technical glitch almost every month. It's beyond frustrating.

•Great points about password managers and caps lock! One other tip - make sure you're not copying and pasting your password. For some reason, the ESD system sometimes adds an invisible space character when you paste, which causes login failures.
