ESD keeps leaving out my work hours from monetary determination letters - now in adjudication
I'm beyond frustrated with ESD right now. I've been denied benefits THREE times because they keep saying I don't have enough hours, but they're literally missing chunks of my work history on every determination letter! First letter was missing 3 months of hours I worked. Called and thought it was fixed. Second letter STILL missing those same 3 months. Now I just got a THIRD letter yesterday that's somehow missing SIX MONTHS of work hours! What the heck?? I finally got through on the phone Friday after trying for days, and they told me my file was sent to an adjudicator. But then I get this new determination letter with even MORE missing hours after they told me that. Does anyone know if they're still going to contact me since I'm supposedly in adjudication now? Or do I need to start this whole frustrating process over again with this new incorrect letter? I've uploaded all my paystubs to my account already. The rent is due next week and I'm seriously stressing out.

This happened to me back in January. They kept leaving out my hours from my job at Seattle Children's Hospital even though I uploaded paystubs THREE times. Super annoying! Since they told you it's in adjudication, that's actually good news. The adjudicator should review ALL your documents and work history, not just what's showing on that monetary determination letter. They will definitely contact you - probably by phone, so keep your phone handy. My adjudicator called on a Saturday morning, which I wasn't expecting!

•They'll call on weekends?? I had no idea. Did it take long after they told you it was in adjudication? I'm worried because I got the new incorrect letter AFTER they told me about adjudication. Makes me think they're not actually looking at my case.

Your case is definitely still being worked on. The monetary determination letters are automated based on what's in their system at that moment, but the adjudicator is a real person who will review your actual documentation. Those letters will keep coming out incorrect until the adjudicator manually updates your wage information in the system. Make sure you've uploaded clear copies of: 1. All paystubs from your base year (the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters before you filed) 2. W-2 forms from those employers 3. Any separation notices if you have them The adjudicator should call within 2-3 weeks from when your case was assigned. If you don't hear anything by then, you can message them through your eServices account under "Send a message" with the subject line "Adjudication Status Update - Missing Wages."

•Thank you!! This is super helpful. I've uploaded all my paystubs already but I'll double check the W-2s are in there too. It's been 5 days since they said it went to adjudication, so I guess I need to be patient for another week or two.

The same exact thing happened to my son. ESD keept saying he didnt have enough hours but they were missing like 4 months where he worked at Amazon. They send those letters automatically so dont panic. The adjudicator is going through your case separately and they will call you.

•Yepp those letters are just computer generated but the adjudicateer is a real person who will look at your actual documents!! My job at a restaurant was completely missing from mine but they fixed it after adjudication.

I'm an employment attorney and see this issue frequently. The automated system ESD uses often fails to capture all employer-reported wages, especially from certain types of employers or multi-state employers. This is why they have the adjudication process. You've done the right thing by uploading your paystubs. The adjudicator will review these and manually add the missing wages. Be aware that adjudicators are currently taking 2-4 weeks to make contact due to high volume, and they typically call from a blocked number. If you miss their call, they'll try once more before sending a letter requiring you to call them within a specific timeframe. If you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to ESD quickly. They have a service that helps you skip the hold times and get directly to an agent who can check your adjudication status. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 While waiting, continue to file your weekly claims even though they'll show as "disqualified" - once the adjudicator fixes your wage history, those weeks will be retroactively paid.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! I'll definitely keep filing weekly claims. Didn't know about that service - if I don't hear anything in 3 weeks I'll check it out. Really appreciate the advice!

ESD IS THE WORST!!! I went through 9 WEEKS of this same garbage last year. Every determination letter was missing different work periods. It's like they deliberately make it complicated to deny people!! I ended up having to contact my state representative's office to get it resolved. The system is BROKEN and they don't care about regular people trying to pay their bills!!!!

•I know it's frustrating, but contacting your state rep should be a last resort after the adjudication process. Most cases do get resolved correctly, it just takes time. The system isn't deliberately trying to deny people - it's just outdated technology combined with staffing shortages. The majority of missing wage issues do get fixed through normal channels.

Just wondering - have you checked your ESD account to see if there's any requests for information? Sometimes they need additional info but the notification gets lost in email spam folders. Also don't forget to check your physical mail too!

•I just double-checked and don't see any requests for info in my account. And I'm pretty careful about checking my mail. But good reminder to check spam folders - will do that now!

This happened to me a while back. I tried calling ESD and was on hold for 3+ hours before Claimyr saved me. Worth checking out if you need to talk to someone at ESD quickly about your adjudication - claimyr.com - they helped me get through in like 20 minutes instead of hours. They have a video showing how it works too. My adjudicator ended up adding all my missing quarters and I got backpaid for everything.

•Does this Claimyr thing really work? My freind told me about it but I was nervous to try it. How long did it take to get your hours added after you got in touch with them?

Yeah its legit, I actually found out about it here on reddit. After I got through to ESD it still took about 2 weeks for the adjudicator to add my hours but at least I knew what was going on. Got paid for everything once it was fixed.

I work in HR and see this constantly with our former employees. The problem is often that employers report wages to ESD quarterly, and sometimes there are discrepancies in how those reports get processed. The most common issues are with multi-state employers, name discrepancies on paystubs vs. SSA records, or employers who changed payroll systems mid-year. My advice: Call ESD again and specifically ask for a "wage investigation" to be added to your adjudication. This flags your case in a specific way that ensures all your documentation gets properly reviewed. And make sure ALL your paystubs are clearly labeled with which employer they're from if you worked multiple jobs.

•That's great to know! I did work for a multi-state company for part of last year, so maybe that's contributing to the issue. I'll definitely ask for a wage investigation if I can get through on the phone again.
