ESD claim stuck in adjudication for 5+ weeks with no payment timeline - help!
This is getting ridiculous! I've been filing my weekly claims for over 5 weeks and haven't received a SINGLE payment. My bills are piling up fast. When I finally got through to ESD yesterday (after 2 hours on hold!), all the agent would say is that my claim is 'in adjudication' and she 'couldn't provide any timeline' for when it might be resolved. She couldn't even tell me what the issue was! How is anyone supposed to survive like this?? Has anyone else dealt with this endless adjudication limbo? Did you eventually get paid? What finally worked to get your claim moving? I'm getting desperate here.

•7 weeks?! That's insane. Did they at least tell you what the issue is that they're investigating? I can't even get that much info.

Unfortunately, this is pretty common with ESD right now. Adjudication means they're investigating something on your claim that needs to be resolved before payments can be released. Common issues include: - Employment separation reasons (if your employer contests the reason you left) - Availability for work questions - Income reporting discrepancies - Identity verification issues The standard line about not having a timeline is frustrating but true - some adjudications take 3-4 weeks, others can take 8+ weeks depending on complexity and current backlog. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims during this time so you'll get backpay once it's resolved.

•Thanks for the explanation. I'm definitely keeping up with the weekly claims. Is there anything I can do to speed things up? This waiting with no communication is killing me.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!! Adjudication for 9 WEEKS with no explanation!!! I had to sell my car to pay rent because they just left me hanging! And then one day with NO WARNING they deposited $7,800 in my account for all the back payments. The system is COMPLETELY BROKEN and they don't care at all about people struggling!

•OMG that's terrifying. I can't wait 9 weeks with no income. Did you ever figure out what the holdup was?

•NOPE! That's the most INFURIATING part! Never got ANY explanation about what they were investigating or why it took so long! They should be REQUIRED to tell us what's going on with OUR MONEY!!

I know this situation is incredibly stressful. While you can't necessarily speed up the adjudication process itself, there are some things you can do: 1. Check your ESD online account for any messages or alerts that might indicate what's being investigated 2. Look for any letters sent to your mailing address or ESD secure inbox 3. Make sure you've completed any identity verification requests they might have sent 4. If you're truly in a financial hardship situation, contact your local WorkSource office and ask about hardship escalation - they sometimes can flag urgent cases 5. Check if there's an option in your online account to upload documents. Sometimes adjudication is waiting on specific documentation. Most importantly, keep filing those weekly claims even without payment, so when it resolves, you'll get all your backpay.

•Thank you for these tips. I've checked my ESD account multiple times and there are no messages or notices about what might be wrong. I'll try contacting WorkSource tomorrow about a hardship escalation.

I've been through this exact situation and finally solved it. After 6 weeks of being stuck in adjudication, I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to an actual ESD agent in 30 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks! The agent was able to see exactly what was holding up my claim (missing employer response) and expedited it. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Within 3 days of that call, my adjudication was completed and I got all my backpay. Sometimes you just need to talk to the right person who can actually look at your specific case.

My two cents - adjudication is totally frustrating but keep filing every week like clockwork. Document EVERYTHING. Take screenshots of your submitted claims, save confirmation numbers, and keep a log of all your calls (date, time, who you spoke with). I had a 10-week adjudication last year and this documentation saved me when there was a dispute about whether I'd been filing properly.

Update: I took several pieces of advice from this thread. I contacted WorkSource about hardship escalation, and I also was able to get through to an ESD agent (finally!) who told me my adjudication was due to a discrepancy in reported hours from my last employer. They actually expedited my case due to financial hardship, and this morning I received ALL my back payments! So relieved. For anyone else stuck in adjudication - be persistent, keep detailed records, and specifically mention financial hardship when you do get through to someone. Thank you all for your help!

•That's excellent news! I'm so glad you got it resolved. This is really helpful information for others in similar situations. The hardship escalation doesn't always work, but it's absolutely worth trying. Congratulations on getting your backpay!
