ESD claim showing ineligible after employer info mistake - can't get through by phone to fix
Help! I messed up entering my employer information when filing my claim renewal and now my status shows 'ineligible' and back in adjudication. I've been trying for DAYS to reach someone at ESD by phone without success. My previous claim had just finished adjudication and I was finally getting paid (my last payment has been 'processing' for a few days now). I've sent multiple messages through the online portal but haven't gotten any response. There doesn't seem to be any way to edit the employer info myself through the portal. This is so frustrating because I just got through one adjudication period and now I'm back to square one because of a simple data entry mistake! Has anyone dealt with something similar or know if there's any way to fix this without having to call? I'm getting desperate enough to contact the governor's office since this seems like a fixable issue if I could just reach a human being at ESD.

dont bother with the messages, they never answer those. same thing happened to my cousin last month. wasted 2 weeks sending messages and getting nowhere

Unfortunately, employer information errors usually require speaking with an agent to correct. The online system doesn't allow editing for employer info once submitted - it's a security feature. Keep trying the main number at different times. I've had better luck calling right when they open at 8am or during lunch hours when many people aren't calling.

•THIS IS EXACTLY WHY THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!! They make it impossible to fix simple errors, then make it impossible to reach anyone to help fix them. Meanwhile your bills pile up and they don't care AT ALL. I spent 5 WEEKS in this exact situation last year. The whole system is designed to make you give up!!!

I went through something similar in January. After trying to call for weeks with no luck, I finally used Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent. It's a service that basically waits on hold for you and calls you when an agent is available. Once I finally got to speak with someone, they were able to fix my employer information in just a few minutes, and my status changed from ineligible back to processing the next day. Worth considering if you're still stuck!

have you tried going to a WorkSource office in person? sometimes they can help with ESD issues or at least get a message to someone who can fix it. my brother-in-law got his claim fixed that way when he couldnt get thru on the phone

i made a mistake on my birthdate once on my claim lol... took FOREVER to fix. i tried the governor's office actually and they just referred me back to ESD. waste of time. the legislative hotline was more helpful tho - they contacted ESD for me and i got a call back within 3 days. might be worth a shot?

Does anyone else think it's RIDICULOUS that in 2025 we still can't edit basic information on our own claims??? Every other government system lets you correct mistakes! I had to wait 7 WEEKS to fix my address when I moved because you can't update that online either. Meanwhile they're sending important mail to my old address! The whole system is designed to be as difficult as possible!

Appeals are reviewed by a different department and can sometimes be a faster way to get errors corrected. In the meantime, continue filing your weekly claims even while showing as ineligible. •Thank you so much for this detailed response! I actually just got my determination letter yesterday but wasn't sure if I should appeal since I know it's just because of my mistake. But filing an appeal makes sense if it gets someone to look at my claim. I'll definitely keep submitting my weekly claims too - I almost stopped because I thought it was pointless while showing ineligible.

One more important thing - make sure you're thoroughly documenting every attempt to contact ESD. Keep a log with dates, times, and method of contact (phone, message, etc.). If you end up needing to file an appeal for any benefit delays, this documentation will help show you were making good faith efforts to correct the problem. Also, when you do speak with someone, get their name and ID number if possible, and ask them to note in your file that you've been trying to contact ESD about this issue for [however many] days.
