ESD alert about 'missing employer information' - keep getting benefits?

I got this weird alert from ESD yesterday about 'missing employer information' and I'm freaking out a little. The alert just had me complete a verification check and then submit. It says I should continue to get benefits and keep filing weekly claims, but I'm not sure if I need to do anything else or if my payments will be delayed. Has anyone dealt with this specific alert before? What happened with your claim? Did your payments continue on time? I've been on unemployment for about 8 weeks and this is the first 'issue' that's come up. Really need these payments to keep coming while I'm job hunting!

I had this exact alert back in January. It's usually just ESD verifying some details with your former employer. As long as the info you provided in your initial application matches what your employer reports, you should be fine. Keep filing your weekly claims as normal. My payments weren't interrupted at all - the alert was just their system doing a routine check.

Ohh that's a relief! Did you have to follow up with your employer at all or did ESD handle everything behind the scenes?

Those are actually two different things. The quarterly review is automatic for everyone on UI as quarters change. The missing employer information alert is specifically requesting verification of employment details that might be incomplete or conflicting in their system.

I GOT THIS EXACT THING and then my payments STOPPED for THREE WEEKS with NO EXPLANATION!!!! Had to call ESD like 50 times before someone finally fixed it!!! Their system is GARBAGE and half the time they don't even know what's going on with their own alerts!!! Don't trust what it says about continuing to get benefits - CALL THEM NOW before your claim gets stuck!!!

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about. How did you finally get through to someone? I've tried calling a few times today and can't get past the automated system.

I work in HR and we get these verification requests from ESD all the time. It's usually because something wasn't filled out completely on either your end or the employer's end. Could be missing dates, wage information, or even something simple like a department code. As long as you responded to the alert, you've done your part. The employer has a deadline to respond too.

Thank you, that's helpful context! Do you know how long employers typically have to respond to these verification requests?

If you're really worried, I'd recommend using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent quickly. I was stuck with a similar issue last month and spent days trying to reach someone. I found this service at claimyr.com that got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold forever. They have a video demo here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it for the peace of mind of talking to someone who could verify everything was fine with my claim.

I wish I'd known about this BEFORE wasting 3 weeks of my life!!! Does it actually work? Seems too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach ESD these days.

Yes, it actually works! I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. They basically navigate ESD's phone system for you and call you back when they have an agent on the line.

i got that alert thing too but mines was different i think cuz it asked me about my job search activities again even tho i already entered them weird system lol but my benefits kept coming so maybe yours will too good luck man

That's actually their job search verification alert, which is different from the missing employer information alert. They randomly select claims to verify job search activities, while the employer information alert is specifically about verifying details with your former employer.

Just to clarify for everyone: The "missing employer information" alert is generally part of ESD's verification process. When you first file a claim, you provide your employment history. ESD then contacts those employers to verify the information. Sometimes there are discrepancies or missing details that need to be resolved. The alert is actually a good sign - it means ESD is actively processing your claim. As long as you've responded to the alert, you've done your part. In most cases, benefits continue without interruption while this verification happens in the background. However, if there's a significant discrepancy between what you reported and what your employer reports, it could trigger an adjudication issue. Keep filing your weekly claims as instructed and watch your ESD account for any new alerts or messages.

Thank you for explaining that so clearly! My anxiety is much lower now. I've logged back into my ESD account and don't see any new alerts or messages, so hopefully that means things are processing normally. I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims as usual.

anyone know if theres a way to see WHY they need the missing info? like what exactly is missing??

You can try clicking on the alert itself in your eServices account - sometimes there's more detailed information if you expand it. Otherwise, you'd need to contact ESD directly to ask what specific information they're trying to verify.

Update: Just wanted to let everyone know that my payment for this week came through normally! Looks like the alert didn't affect anything. Thanks for all the helpful replies - this group is amazing for calming my unemployment anxiety!
