EDD intercepting benefits after redetermination - pandemic assistance affecting current claim. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my unemployment benefits. I received pandemic assistance unemployment, and now it's affecting my current claim. Even after getting a redetermination, my benefits are still being intercepted. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this resolved?

I found a way to solve unemployment benefits being intercepted, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjR6Bc3UhTY

Ugh, that sucks! I've been dealing with something similar. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? It's a pain, but sometimes talking to a real person is the only way to get things sorted out.

Yeah, I've been trying to call them for days. It's impossible to get through! 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold last week.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours, but I was able to do other stuff instead of being stuck on hold.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: redetermination notice, payment records, and any correspondence from the unemployment office. 2. Write down a clear timeline of events, including when you received pandemic assistance and when your current claim started. 3. Call the unemployment office (use the tip about calling right when they open or try that calling service someone mentioned). 4. When you get through, explain your situation calmly and ask specifically why your payments are still being intercepted despite the redetermination. 5. Request a supervisor if the first person you talk to can't help. 6. Ask for a case number and follow-up timeline. 7. If calling doesn't work, try reaching out to your local state representative. They often have contacts in the unemployment office and can help push things along. Good luck! The system is a mess right now, but persistence usually pays off.

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every call and interaction. It'll help if you need to escalate things later.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional information that don't get sent by mail.

Good point! I'll double-check my account right now.

I had a similar issue last year. Turns out there was an overpayment from the pandemic assistance that they were recouping from my new claim. Might be worth asking specifically about that when you get through to someone.

Oh man, I hope that's not the case for me. But thanks for the heads up!

Ugh, overpayments are the worst. They made me repay $3000 last year. 😭

Have you tried reaching out on Twitter? Sometimes their social media team is more responsive than the phone lines.

This is why I'm never trusting the government again. They give us money during the pandemic and then take it back. It's a 🤡 show.

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul.

Hang in there, OP! I know it's frustrating, but keep pushing. I was in the same boat a few months ago and finally got it sorted. Don't give up!
