Claim stuck in ESD limbo: 'Waiting on information' after 10 weeks of adjudication

I'm at my wit's end with this ESD nightmare. Been filing my weekly claims religiously for almost 10 weeks now. First my claim was stuck in adjudication forever, and now suddenly it's changed to 'waiting on information' with zero explanation what that even means! My landlord is breathing down my neck because I'm 2 months behind on rent. I've tried calling literally EVERY hour the phone lines are open - early morning, mid-day, right before closing - and it's always the same automated message and disconnect. I'm about to be homeless over this! Has anyone gone from 'adjudication' to 'waiting on information' status? What does this change even mean? Do I need to upload something I'm not seeing? Any advice before I completely lose it would be SO appreciated.

Waiting on' information usually means ESD needs something from you OR'they re waiting on verification from your employer. Check your ESD account dashboard and Message Center immediately. They often send letters requesting info with deadlines, and if you miss them, your claim gets denied. Also check your spam folder for emails from ESD. If'there s nothing there, they might be waiting on your former employer torespond.

Thank you! I just checked and don't see anything in my Message Center. Nothing in my spam folder either. How long do employers typically have to respond? It's been over 2 months already!

OMG I HAD THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE last month!!! Was stuck in adjudication for like 6 weeks then suddenly changed to 'waiting on information' with NO COMMUNICATION from ESD!!! I was freaking out just like you. Turns out they needed verification of my identity but never actually told me. The whole system is BROKEN AND RIDICULOUS. You might try uploading your ID and SS card to the document center just in case, that's what fixed it for me. But seriously, the ESD is the most dysfunctional govt agency I've ever dealt with!!!

This happened to me too! Except in my case they needed paystubs from my last employer. The system is definitely broken. I had to guess what they wanted since they never actually asked for anything specific.

I specialize in helping people navigate the ESD system. When your claim changes from 'adjudication' to 'waiting on information,' it typically means one of three things: 1. They need verification documents from you (identity, work authorization, employment history) 2. They've requested information from your former employer 3. There's an issue with your job separation reason they're investigating You should call ESD directly at 800-318-6022. However, since you're having trouble getting through like most people, I recommend checking if there are any 'fact-finding' questionnaires in your online account to complete. Look specifically in the 'Pending Issues' section.

Thanks for this detailed explanation. I just checked and don't see any pending issues or fact-finding questionnaires. It's so frustrating that they don't just tell you what they're waiting for! I'll keep trying the phone number.

have you tried going to a WorkSource office in person? sometimes they can help u get unstuck or at least tell u whats going on. i was stuck for weeks and finally went to the one downtown and the lady there was super helpful and could actually see notes on my claim that werent visible to me online

I didn't even think of that! There's a WorkSource about 20 minutes from me. I'll try going in person tomorrow morning. Did you need an appointment or could you just walk in?

Try Claimyr to get through to ESD by phone. After weeks of trying to call myself with no luck, I used their service and got connected to an actual ESD agent in about 40 minutes. Worth every penny when you're about to lose your housing. They basically call for you and then connect you when they get through. You can see a video of how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Saved me from a similar situation where my claim was stuck for weeks.

Is this legit? I'm always hesitant to try these third-party services. Has anyone else used Claimyr successfully? I'm in a similar boat with my claim stuck.

Yes, Claimyr is legitimate. Several of my clients have used it when they couldn't get through to ESD directly. However, before spending money, try these steps first: 1. Email your state representative - they often have staff dedicated to ESD issues 2. Visit WorkSource in-person as suggested above 3. Send a secure message through your ESD portal specifically asking what information is needed If none of these work within 3-5 business days, then consider using a call service. Also, document every attempt you make to contact ESD - this will help if you need to file an appeal later for delays.

I really appreciate all this advice. I'll email my state rep today and plan to visit WorkSource tomorrow. If I still can't get answers by Friday, I might try Claimyr as a last resort. The most frustrating part is just not knowing what they need from me!

my landlord was the same way when i was waiting for benefits. dont know if this helps but i printed out my esd account showing the claim status and gave him a copy. at least that way he knew i wasnt making it up and actually had a claim pending. bought me a couple extra weeks before he got really nasty about it.

That's actually a good idea. My landlord keeps asking for proof that I'm not just making excuses. At least this might buy me a little time while I try to get this resolved.

ALSO make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even while you're stuck in this stupid limbo!!! If you miss filing even ONE WEEK they can close your whole claim and you'll have to start over!!! Ask me how I know... 😡

Ugh, that sounds awful! Yes, I've been religiously filing every week even though nothing is happening. At least if they ever fix this I'll hopefully get all the back payments at once.

Just wanted to follow up - after you visit WorkSource, make sure to get the name of the person who assists you and request that they document your visit in your claim notes. This creates a paper trail showing your efforts to resolve the issue. Additionally, if it's been 10 weeks, you might qualify for a hardship expedition based on your housing situation. Specifically mention to both your state representative and WorkSource that you're facing potential eviction. This can sometimes fast-track your claim review.

Thank you so much for this advice! I didn't know about the hardship expedition option. I'll definitely mention the eviction risk when I go to WorkSource tomorrow and in my email to my representative today.

good luck tomorrow at WorkSource! just a heads up you might want to get there when they open, sometimes theres a wait and they can only help a certain number of people each day. i had to wait like 2 hours but it was worth it

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely get there right when they open. At this point I'd wait all day if it means getting this resolved.
