Called ESD and issues got cleared but payment still shows pending - what next?

Super confused and starting to panic a bit. My husband finally got through to ESD yesterday after waiting on hold for almost 3 hours. The agent was actually really helpful and said she cleared all the issues on his claim. She specifically told him that everything looked good and payments should process now. But it's been 24 hours and his weekly payments still show as 'pending' on eServices. Shouldn't they have switched to 'paid' by now? The agent didn't mention anything about additional waiting time. Are we missing something else that needs to be done? His claim has already been delayed for 6 weeks and our savings are completely wiped out at this point.

When I got my issues cleared in January, it took exactly 3 business days for the status to change from pending to paid. ESD has to run everything through their payment processing system which only happens in batches. The agent should have mentioned this to you! But dont worry, if they said everything is cleared, you should see movement by Friday. Their system is soooo slow.

Thank you for the reassurance! The agent didn't mention any timeframe at all, just said "it's good to go now" which made us think it would be immediate. 3 business days isn't too bad I guess, just wish they were clearer about that. I'll try to be patient until Friday.

Pending to paid can take 48-72 hours after issues are cleared. The ESD payment system processes in batches, not instantly. Keep checking your eServices account daily. If nothing changes by next Monday, then you should call back. When the agent clears issues, that just removes the holds, but the actual payment still needs to go through the normal processing cycle.

this is the right anser!! happened to me too after they cleared my identity verification. took exacly 3 days for the $$ to hit my account

Did the agent specifically say what issues were cleared? Sometimes there are multiple flags on a claim, and they might have only addressed some of them. Check if there are any alerts or messages in your eServices inbox that might indicate other pending issues. Sometimes the "pending" status can be for different reasons - adjudication, identity verification, able & available issues, etc.

She said there was an employer response issue and an availability issue, both of which she cleared. There are no messages in the eServices inbox and no alerts showing. The claim summary just shows all weeks as pending but doesn't mention any outstanding issues anymore. That's why I'm confused!

That's good news then! As others have mentioned, even when issues are cleared, it takes a few business days for the payment status to update. The payment system is separate from the adjudication system. If there are no alerts or messages about remaining issues, you're likely just in the waiting period before payment processing completes.

ESD is THE WORST at communicating these things!!! I've been through this exact situation twice and both times they said "all clear" but then I had to wait. First time took 2 days, second time took 4 days. Their system is from like 1995 I swear. The payments WILL come, but don't expect ESD to ever tell you how long something will take. So frustrating!!!

Have you checked your bank account too? Sometimes the eServices website doesnt update but the money gets deposited anyway. happened to me in February

Just checked and nothing there yet. But that's good to know it might show up in the account before the website updates!

if u still dont see any change by monday, try using Claimyr to get back thru to ESD quickly. i was in a similar situation where they said they fixed everything but nothing happened for over a week. i used claimyr.com to get past the busy signals and they connected me with an ESD agent in like 20 minutes. turns out there was still one issue they hadnt cleared! they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. way better than waiting on hold for 3 hours again!

is that service legit? ive heard about it but wasnt sure if its worth it

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it until Monday as everyone suggested, but if we still don't see movement I might try this. Getting through the phone system again sounds awful!

Oh also! Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even while waiting for the pending payments to clear. I made that mistake once and it caused even more delays.

Yes! We've been super careful about filing every week on Sunday morning, even though nothing has been paid yet. That's one lesson we learned early on after reading other posts here.

my brother had this EXACT same thing happen last week!!! he called on Tuesday, they cleared everything, and then the payments didnt switch from pending to paid until Friday afternoon. but then he got the money in his account on Monday morning. so its probably just the stupid slow ESD computers doing their thing lol

did they tell u why it was held up for 6 weeks in the first place? thats a crazy long time

The agent said it was a combination of things - first there was an employer response issue (his company initially contested the claim but then withdrew it), and then there was some confusion about his availability for work. But she didn't really explain why it took SO long, just kept apologizing for the delay.

If Monday comes and your status hasn't changed, when you call back, ask specifically about the "payment release date" - that's the technical term ESD uses internally. Sometimes the issues can be cleared but the payment needs to be manually released by a different department. Asking about the payment release date will get you more specific information.

That's great advice! I'll definitely use that exact phrase if we have to call again. Thank you!
