I used Claimyr last week when I had issues with my claim being stuck in adjudication for three weeks. Finally got through to someone who could actually help me understand what was going on. Way better than the runaround I was getting trying to call normally.
The bottom line is file as soon as you can after your layoff. Washington ESD won't penalize you for filing quickly but they also won't backdate benefits if you file late.
I qualified easily but then got stuck in adjudication for weeks because of some issue with my last employer. Even if you meet the basic requirements, there can still be delays if there are any questions about your separation.
Could be anything - employer disputes the reason for separation, questions about misconduct, issues with your availability. Most get resolved eventually but it takes time.
That's when services like Claimyr really help - they can connect you with agents who can explain what's holding up your claim and help move things along.
Thanks everyone for all this info! I'm feeling much better about understanding the requirements now. Sounds like with 8+ months of steady work I should qualify, but I'll definitely use the benefit calculator to double-check my wages.
Good luck with your application! The first time is always nerve-wracking but you'll get through it. The important thing is to file as soon as possible and keep up with your weekly claims.
Actually, I should mention that if you do get stuck trying to reach Washington ESD by phone, that Claimyr service really does work. I was skeptical at first but it saved me so much time and frustration. You can check out their demo video to see how it works.
Don't forget about the tax implications too. Unemployment benefits are taxable income. You can have taxes withheld or pay at the end of the year.
Just be patient and keep filing your weekly claims. The money will come eventually. I know it's stressful but the system does work, just slowly.

Just wanted to mention that if you need to contact Washington ESD for any reason during this process, claimyr.com has been a lifesaver for actually reaching someone. The phone system is still pretty overwhelmed and this helps you get through to an actual person when you need answers.

•I'm seeing this mentioned a few times in this thread. Definitely going to bookmark it in case we need it.

•Yeah it's one of those things you hope you never need but are glad to know about just in case.

The economic uncertainty is real but try not to let it paralyze you. People are still getting hired every day, even in tough times. Your husband's experience and skills don't disappear just because the job market is challenging. Stay positive and keep moving forward.

•Thank you for the encouragement. It's easy to get caught up in all the negative news and forget that people do still find jobs.

•This is such a good reminder. The news focuses on the bad stuff but doesn't report on all the people who quietly find work and move on with their lives.
