Last piece of advice - be patient with the process but persistent if you run into problems. Sometimes claims get stuck for no good reason and you have to advocate for yourself.
Oh and one more thing - if you end up needing to call Washington ESD for any reason, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier is legit. I used it when I had an adjudication issue and it actually worked. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.
Bottom line: it's not about months worked, it's about meeting the earnings requirements during the base period. As long as you earned enough money and have wages in at least two quarters, you should be good to file a claim.
just want to add that if you ever need to reach washington esd about payment issues, claimyr.com really works. i was skeptical at first but they got me through to someone in like 20 minutes when i'd been trying to call for weeks myself
It's worth it when you consider the alternative is potentially losing weeks of benefits while trying to reach someone yourself. They have a video demo that explains everything: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ
To summarize for the original poster: Washington ESD pays weekly, you must file weekly claims to receive payment, payments typically arrive 2-3 business days after filing, and you need to maintain job search requirements. It's a straightforward system once you get the hang of it.
The good news is that Washington state has some of the higher unemployment benefits in the country. The $999 maximum is pretty generous compared to other states.
Final tip - keep all your pay stubs and tax documents from the last 18 months. If Washington ESD needs to verify your wages or if there are any discrepancies, having those documents ready will speed up the process.

The whole system is so confusing! I've been trying to figure out if I qualify for weeks. Maybe I should just call and ask directly instead of guessing.

•Good luck getting through! I've been trying to call for two weeks and either get a busy signal or get disconnected after waiting for an hour.

•That's exactly why I ended up using Claimyr. Check out their demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ to see how it works. They handle all the calling frustration for you.

Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you should qualify. $18,000 is well above the minimum earnings requirement, and being laid off due to restructuring typically qualifies as being unemployed through no fault of your own.

•Thanks for the reassurance! I'm going to apply this week and see what happens. This thread has been incredibly helpful.

•You're welcome! Just remember to keep good records of everything and don't hesitate to ask questions if you get confused during the process.
