has anyone noticed how the esd fraud dept seems to flag way more claims than before? i swear theyre just trying to save money by making the process so frustrating that people give up. my neighbor waited 9 weeks for his claim to clear the fraud dept and he works for the state government! makes no sense
YES! It's definitely gotten worse since they updated their system last fall. I think they turned up the sensitivity on whatever algorithm flags accounts for review without hiring enough people to handle all the cases. Classic government efficiency 🙄
FINAL UPDATE: My claim is FINALLY out of fraud review! The supervisor called me yesterday and removed the hold. She said they've been overwhelmed with cases and apologized for the delay. All my weeks are now processing for payment and I should receive the backpay within 3 business days. For anyone else stuck in fraud review purgatory - being able to actually speak to someone was the key. Thank you all for your advice and support through this nightmare!
That's fantastic news! So glad you got it resolved. The system is so broken, but persistence pays off eventually. Hope the money hits your account quickly!
just wondering did u get the money yet? im in the exact same boat right now, won appeal yesterday and shows paid but nothing in my bank yet
Update: YES! The money just hit my account this morning - so it took exactly 3 business days from when the status changed to paid. Such a relief! Hang in there, yours should arrive soon too!
awsome thanks for letting us know!!!
For anyone reading this thread in the future: the standard processing time for ESD payments after they show as "paid" in the system is 2-4 business days for direct deposit. If it's been longer than that, first verify your banking information is correct in your eServices account, then contact ESD if necessary. Also, be aware that large backpay amounts from appeals are sometimes flagged for additional verification as a fraud prevention measure, which can add 1-2 extra days to the process.
Yes, call your district's state representatives directly. You can find who represents you by entering your address on the legislature website. Explain your situation, the timeline, and the financial hardship you're facing. Be specific about how long you've been waiting and what steps you've already taken. They typically have staff dedicated to helping constituents with state agencies. In King County, they're very familiar with ESD issues.
Update: I took several pieces of advice from this thread. I used Claimyr to get through to ESD (it actually worked!) and spoke with a tier 2 agent who explained my claim was flagged because my former employer contested it. The agent helped me understand what additional documentation I needed to provide. I also contacted my state representative's office, who said they'd follow up with ESD if it's not resolved in the next week. Thanks everyone for the advice - I feel like I'm finally making progress instead of just waiting helplessly.
i tried claimyr after seeing it mentioned here. just wanted to say it actually worked for getting through to esd. waited like 15 min instead of never getting through at all. agent fixed my issue with missing work history that was holding up payment. the chat works for some people but if you need actual esd this was faster
forgot to say in my last comment - my issue was similar to yours, needed to submit verification documents. the worksource chat told me what docs i needed but couldnt actually fix my claim status, needed ESD for that part
That makes sense - I'm uploading my verification docs today, so fingers crossed it resolves my issue! If not I might need to try getting through to actual ESD too.

GOOD LUCK today!!!! Let us know how it goes. The ESD system is so frustrating sometimes but occasionally they get it right lol

I JUST had a hearing last Thursday for a similar issue!!! Mine was reduction in hours too but different circumstances. The judge actually ruled in my favor ON THE SPOT which I wasn't expecting! Make sure you have your dates straight about when your hours were cut vs when you applied for school. My judge was super focused on the timeline of events. Judges know people need to support themselves so if you can show the hours cut made that impossible, you have a good chance!

•Oh wow, that's encouraging! I definitely know my timeline - hours were cut in January, I stuck it out hoping for improvement until late February, quit on March 3rd, and then applied for school courses starting in April. I'll make sure to emphasize this clear sequence. Thanks for sharing your success story!
