Good luck getting through to ESD to ask about it!!! I spent THREE DAYS trying to get someone on the phone last month when they messed up my standby status. Called literally 27 times and either got a busy signal or was on hold for hours only to get disconnected. The whole system is designed to make you give up!
I had the same horrible experience trying to reach ESD. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr. It's a service that basically calls ESD for you and then connects you once they get through. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. They have a video showing how it works too: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - definitely worth it when you're dealing with payment issues that need immediate attention.
UPDATE: My payment just hit my account this morning (Thursday)! No explanation for the delay, it just showed up. Thanks everyone for the advice and reassurance. If this happens again, I'll definitely try getting through to ESD directly to find out if there's an underlying issue with my claim.
Glad u got it! Same thing happend to me. They really need to fix there system bcuz ppl need there money on time!!!
one more thing i forgot to mention...when you report your hours make sure you report the actual hours worked not just scheduled hours. and report the gross pay before taxes.
I went through this exact situation in 2023. Here's exactly what happens: 1. You report your hours and wages each week you work 2. ESD calculates your partial benefit using their formula 3. You continue receiving reduced benefits as long as you earn less than your weekly benefit amount 4. You must continue doing 3 job search activities each week 5. ESD will verify your employment through regular quarterly employer reports The most important thing is accuracy. If you accidentally report your hours or wages incorrectly, call ESD immediately to fix it. Even honest mistakes can trigger an overpayment notice if not corrected quickly.
I literally just dealt with this last month lol. Select "laid off/lack of work" and then explain in the comments that you're still employed but weren't scheduled for any hours that week. Worked fine for me!
UPDATE: I submitted my claim using 'laid off/lack of work' and explained everything in the comments section. My payment was processed normally and I didn't have any issues! Thanks everyone for your help with this. Hopefully this thread helps someone else in the same situation.

my cousin works for esd and says that if u quit a job, they automatically flag ur account for review and everythng stops till they decide if ur eligible again. he said they look at if u tried to fix the problem first (like talking to HR or ur boss) before quitting. so maybe try that if the job is bad, then u can say u tried to resolve it?

•This is accurate information. ESD does look favorably on claimants who made good faith efforts to resolve workplace issues before quitting. Document any conversations with management, HR complaints, etc. Even sending emails outlining your concerns can help establish that you tried to address problems before leaving.

Thank you all SO much for the advice! I think I'm going to keep looking for jobs while collecting unemployment rather than take this risky position. It sounds like quitting could create a huge financial gap even if I think I have good cause. I'll keep doing my job searches and hopefully find something with better reviews soon. And I'll definitely remember that the waiting week doesn't count against my 26 paid weeks!
