If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Don't stress too much about the misconduct thing until you know if it's even an issue. File first, then deal with any challenges as they come up. You might be surprised - Washington ESD might not even flag your termination as misconduct.

Thanks, I think I was overthinking it and psyching myself out.

0 coins

Overthinking is the enemy of action. Just file and see what happens.

Update us after you file! I'm curious how it goes since I might be in a similar situation soon with my current job situation.

0 coins

Will do! I'm going to file this afternoon and I'll post an update once I hear back from Washington ESD.

I just want to say that this whole process is so stressful. Having to prove you deserve benefits that you paid into for years is ridiculous.

0 coins

I totally understand the frustration. The system isn't perfect but hang in there - many appeals are successful if you have the facts on your side.

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps to know other people have gone through this and come out okay.

For the original poster - since you have the layoff notice, your case sounds pretty straightforward. Just clearly explain that you were laid off due to company downsizing, not a voluntary quit, and include the documentation. You should be fine.

Thank you everyone for all the advice! I feel much more prepared to write this letter now. I'll keep it factual, include the layoff notice, and send it certified mail.

Good luck with your appeal! Sounds like you have a strong case. Let us know how it goes.

my cousin uses some service called claimyr or something to call washington esd for her, she says it actually works to get through to someone

0 coins

Yeah that's the same service someone mentioned earlier. Seems legit if multiple people are using it.

Good to hear confirmation from another source. Might be worth trying if I run into issues.

Bottom line: 2-3 business days after certification is normal for Washington ESD. Anything longer than that and you should investigate. The exact day can vary but it shouldn't be wildly unpredictable.

0 coins

Perfect summary! That gives me a good framework for what to expect going forward.

0 coins

agreed, this thread has been really helpful for understanding the timing

Final advice: File immediately, be completely honest, document everything about your transportation situation, and don't get discouraged if you're initially denied. The appeal process exists for exactly these kinds of situations where the circumstances are complex.

0 coins

Thank you so much for all the detailed advice. I'm feeling much more confident about filing now.

0 coins

This has been a really informative thread. Good luck with your claim!

Just to close this out - getting fired for tardiness due to public transportation issues is definitely not an automatic disqualification. You have a legitimate shot at benefits, especially if you can document the transportation problems were beyond your control.

I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help. Going to file my claim this afternoon and gather all my documentation about the bus issues.

Keep us posted on how it goes! These threads help other people in similar situations.

Bottom line for your dad: file for regular unemployment benefits through Washington ESD, meet all the job search requirements, and don't let anyone tell him he's too old to receive benefits. Age discrimination in unemployment is illegal.

0 coins

Perfect summary! This thread has been really helpful for understanding his options.

0 coins

Agreed. The system isn't perfect but the benefits are there for people who qualify, regardless of age.

0 coins

One more thing - if your dad worked for a large company, they might have offered voluntary separation packages that could affect his unemployment eligibility. Make sure Washington ESD knows about any severance or separation agreements.

0 coins

He didn't get any severance, just a layoff notice. But good point about making sure Washington ESD has all the details.

0 coins

Yes, being completely honest about the separation circumstances is crucial for avoiding issues later.
