Just remember to keep track of how much you're receiving for tax purposes. Washington ESD will send you a 1099-G at tax time but it's good to keep your own records throughout the year.
The whole payment process is pretty straightforward once you understand it. File your weekly claim by Sunday, get paid Tuesday or Wednesday, repeat every week. Just make sure you're doing your job search requirements too or they'll stop your payments.
The monetary determination will also show if you have any prior overpayments that need to be repaid. This can affect your benefit amount if they're doing collections.
Bottom line - file your claim and wait for the monetary determination letter. That's the only way to know for sure what your exact benefit amount will be. The calculation formulas are helpful for estimates but the official determination is what matters.
Quick reminder that if you end up getting a second part-time job while collecting partial benefits, you still need to report ALL earnings on your weekly claims. Some people think they only report earnings from their main job.
One last thing - make sure you understand the difference between being laid off completely versus having hours reduced. The requirements and processes can be slightly different even though both qualify for benefits.
Update us on how it goes! And remember, if you need help navigating any part of the Washington ESD system, resources like claimyr.com are available to help you get connected with the right people.

Just want to add one more thing - if you ever need to get through to Washington ESD for documentation or questions about your previous claim, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier really does work. Had to use it myself when I needed my determination letter for a housing application. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ shows exactly how it works.

•I might need to try this, been trying to get someone at ESD on the phone for weeks about an overpayment notice

•Yeah that's exactly the kind of situation where it's helpful. Way better than sitting on hold for hours.

This has been a really useful thread. I'm bookmarking it in case I run into this question again. Sometimes you just need to hear from other people who've been in the same situation.
