Don't forget about the tax implications - unemployment benefits are taxable income. You can choose to have taxes withheld or pay at the end of the year, but don't get surprised come tax time. I owed $800 in taxes on my unemployment benefits last year because I didn't have anything withheld.
Update us when you get your determination letter! I'm curious to see if the estimates in this thread are accurate. Good luck with everything.
Don't stress too much about the eligibility requirements. If you were laid off from a regular job where you paid into the system, you almost certainly qualify. The worst they can do is say no, and then you can appeal if you think they're wrong.
One last thing - make sure you file as soon as possible after your last day of work. You can't get benefits for weeks before you file, even if you were eligible. I waited a month to file and lost out on 4 weeks of benefits.
The waiting is the worst part. I was disqualified for 3 weeks before I found out it was just a computer glitch that flagged my account incorrectly. Keep pushing for answers.
Summary for OP: Get your determination letter first (call or check online messages), understand the specific reason for disqualification, continue filing weekly claims, gather supporting documentation, and be prepared to appeal if you disagree. The 30-day appeal deadline is crucial.
The appeal system definitely needs reform but in the meantime we just have to work within it. Keep filing weekly claims and stay organized with your documentation.
Update on the Claimyr service mentioned earlier - I actually tried it last week and was impressed. Got connected to an ESD representative within 30 minutes instead of spending hours getting busy signals. They were able to confirm my appeal status and give me a rough timeline estimate.

Remember to document everything you're doing for job search activities. Even though you're not getting unemployment anymore, if you do find training programs or other assistance, they might ask about your job search efforts.
