Whatever you do, don't trust the automated estimate when you first file. Mine was off by like $200/week and I didn't find out until I talked to an actual person.

Five weeks is definitely longer than normal for a simple claim. Something might be stuck in the system that needs manual review. Getting an agent on the phone is really your best bet at this point.
That's what I'm starting to think too. Going to look into that Claimyr service people keep mentioning and see if I can finally get some answers.
One more tip - make sure you're filing your weekly claim before the Sunday deadline. I filed late one week (Monday morning) and my payment was delayed until the following week's cycle.
Thanks everyone for all the info! This has been way more helpful than trying to navigate the ESD website. Seems like the consensus is Sunday filing = Tuesday/Wednesday payment for most people.
been on unemployment twice in the past few years and the key is staying organized. keep copies of everything, take screenshots of confirmations, and document every phone call or message. if something goes wrong you'll need that paperwork trail
The key things to remember: apply online at esd.wa.gov, have your employment history ready, be honest and complete in your answers, and don't delay in applying. The process itself isn't too complicated, it's the waiting and potential follow-up questions that can be frustrating. Good luck with your claim!

Make sure you keep your address updated with Washington ESD. I moved during my claim and almost missed important notices because I forgot to update my address online.

•You can do it through your online account under profile settings. Just make sure to update it everywhere - your regular account and your unemployment claim.

Last thing - don't panic if your claim goes into adjudication. It's pretty common and usually gets resolved within a few weeks. Just be patient and respond to any requests for information quickly.

•Could be anything - questions about why you left your job, wage verification issues, or if your employer contests the claim. Most of the time it's routine stuff that gets cleared up.
