I used claimyr when my claim got stuck in adjudication hell. The Washington ESD agent explained my case had been sitting unassigned for weeks. Got it resolved the same day I finally talked to someone.
That's why services like Claimyr exist. The regular phone system is basically broken but if you can actually talk to someone most issues get resolved quickly.
Last piece of advice - be patient but persistent. The system is frustrating but most people do eventually get their benefits. Just make sure you keep filing weekly claims no matter what happens with your initial application.
The confusion might come from the fact that some states have small employee contributions to disability insurance or family leave programs. But unemployment insurance is always employer-funded.
OP you should double check your W-2 or pay stubs to see what taxes were actually taken out. You'll see Social Security, Medicare, federal income tax, but no unemployment tax deduction for employees.
The most important thing is to file your claim as soon as possible after becoming unemployed. Don't wait thinking you might find a job quickly - you can always stop filing weekly claims if you find work, but you can't backdate your claim to get benefits for weeks you didn't file.
That's really good advice. I was thinking about waiting a week or two to see if I heard back from any applications, but I'll file right away instead.
Hope this thread helped! The unemployment system seems complicated at first but once you get into the routine it becomes pretty automatic. File your initial claim, file weekly claims every Sunday, do your job search, and keep good records. You've got this!
For anyone still worried about this process - I've helped several friends close their claims and it's really not complicated. The Washington ESD online system handles most of the work for you once you report your return to work date accurately.
Just to close the loop on the Claimyr discussion - I used them last month for a different issue and they were legit. Sometimes it's worth paying for help when you need to talk to Washington ESD quickly, especially if you have time-sensitive questions about your claim.

One thing that helped me was using Claimyr when I had questions about my benefit calculation. Instead of spending hours trying to get through to Washington ESD, they connected me with an agent who walked through exactly how my amount was calculated and confirmed it was correct.

•It's definitely worth it if you're having trouble reaching them through normal channels. The peace of mind alone is valuable.

Based on your salary of $52k, you're probably looking at somewhere between $500-700 weekly, assuming your earnings were consistent. The exact amount depends on how your wages were distributed across quarters.

•That range seems reasonable based on what everyone else has shared. Thanks for all the helpful information!
