Just want to add that timing is important too. Don't wait too long after your disability ends to file for unemployment. There are deadlines for when you can backdate claims.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! Sounds like I need to be patient and wait until I'm medically cleared before doing anything.
The key thing about unemployment insurance is that it's temporary and conditional. You're not just getting free money - you have ongoing obligations like filing weekly claims, conducting job searches, and being available for work. Washington ESD monitors compliance pretty strictly.
Bottom line - unemployment insurance is earned income replacement for people who lose jobs through no fault of their own. In Washington, ESD administers it but the federal government sets some of the rules. You pay into it while working, then can draw from it when unemployed and actively job searching.
The bottom line is that Washington ESD wants to see that you made reasonable efforts to resolve the situation before quitting. If you can show that, and you have good documentation, you should be okay.
Has anyone here ever had Washington ESD audit their part-time work reporting? I'm paranoid about making a mistake and getting hit with penalties.
Bottom line: take the job, report everything accurately, keep good records, and continue your full-time job search. You'll be fine and probably better off financially even with reduced benefits.

Update: I finally got through using Claimyr after reading about it here. Cost me some money but I was able to resolve my pending claim issue in one phone call. Wish I had known about it weeks ago.

•That's great to hear! I think I'm going to try Claimyr too if I can't get through by tomorrow.

•Same here, the regular phone system just isn't working. At some point you have to try something different.

For anyone else reading this thread - the key is persistence but also trying different strategies. Don't just keep doing the same thing that isn't working.

•You're absolutely right. I was just calling the same number the same way every day. Time to change tactics.

•Exactly. Whether it's different times, different numbers, or services like Claimyr, you have to adapt to the broken system.
