Final tip for everyone - keep all your documentation organized. Pay stubs, separation paperwork, correspondence from Washington ESD. If they ever audit your claim or you need to appeal something, you'll need all of it.
This thread has been super helpful! I was worried about the whole process but it seems more straightforward than I thought. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.
Just want to add that if you exhaust your regular UI benefits, you might be eligible for other assistance programs like SNAP or Medicaid while you continue job searching. Don't suffer in silence.
OP, since you mentioned you worked 8 years at your previous job, you should definitely qualify for the full 26 weeks assuming you meet the wage requirements. Your long work history will work in your favor.
i filed last month and got my first payment about 3 weeks later... not too bad considering all the horror stories i heard. just stay on top of your weekly claims!
The uncertainty is the worst part of all this. I wish Washington ESD would just send clearer communication about benefit timelines instead of making us figure it out ourselves.
UPDATE: Found my benefit year info! For anyone else looking, in eServices go to 'Claim & Payment Status' then click on 'View Claim Details.' It shows benefit year begin and end dates right at the top. Mine ends in April so I have about 4 months left in my benefit year but only 6 weeks of actual benefits remaining.

The safety complaint angle is really important. Document everything you can remember about the unsafe conditions and when you reported them. That could be key evidence if they try to claim you were fired for legitimate performance reasons.

•I'm going to sit down tonight and write out everything I can remember with dates and details.

•That's smart. The more detailed your records, the better your case will be during adjudication.
