Word of warning - don't assume your payment will always be the same amount every week. If you have any earnings to report or if there are other changes, your weekly benefit amount can vary.
The weekly system works well once you get used to it. Just remember you're basically 'checking in' every week to confirm you're still unemployed and looking for work. Miss that check-in and you don't get paid.
For anyone reading this thread later - save yourself some anxiety and just expect it to take 3 business days. That way if it comes earlier you're pleasantly surprised instead of stressed.
Thanks to everyone who responded! This thread has been super helpful. I feel much better knowing what to expect with the timing.
Hope your payments come through smoothly. Remember, if you ever need to reach Washington ESD for any issues, Claimyr is there to help you get connected quickly.
Just went through this process myself. Filed a new claim after my benefit year ended, but I had worked part-time during my previous claim. The new weekly benefit amount was calculated based on those wages, so it was lower than my original claim. Something to keep in mind.
The bottom line is that you CAN refile after benefits run out, but only if you meet the wage requirements for a new claim. If you don't have sufficient wages from covered employment during your benefit year, you'll need to look at other options or find work to build up eligibility for a future claim.
This has been really helpful everyone. Sounds like I need to wait until my benefit year ends next month, then see if I have enough wages to qualify for a new claim. If not, I'll look into training programs and other assistance.
good luck everyone with your renewals! remember to stay on top of your weekly claims and job search requirements throughout the process
Final reminder for anyone who needs to talk to Washington ESD about their renewal - Claimyr really is worth checking out. I know I mentioned it a few times but it genuinely made the difference between getting help and being stuck in phone hell. The demo video shows exactly how it works if you want to see before trying it.

Whatever you decide, make sure you understand the job search requirements before you quit. You'll need to be actively looking for work and able/available to accept suitable employment. Can't just quit and take a vacation while collecting benefits.

•Good point. I'm definitely planning to start job searching immediately if I quit.

•Also remember to keep detailed records of your job search activities. Washington ESD audits those pretty regularly.
