The system is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. File your weekly claims on Sunday nights after midnight, keep your job search log updated, and respond quickly to any requests from Washington ESD. 26 weeks should give you enough time if you're actively looking.
Just want to add that if you have any issues with your claim or need to speak to someone at Washington ESD, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier really does work. I was skeptical at first but it saved me hours of waiting on hold when I had an adjudication issue.
Seems like a few people have had good experiences with that. I'll keep it in mind if I run into any problems.
Same here - used Claimyr when I had an overpayment notice I needed to discuss. Much better than the regular phone system.
Quick question - do tips count toward the earnings requirement? I worked as a server and most of my income was tips that I reported on my taxes.
I had to use that Claimyr service too when I couldn't get through to ESD about my benefit duration. Worth every penny when you're stressed about your claim. The peace of mind of actually talking to someone who can give you real answers is huge.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum for regular UI benefits in Washington. No extensions currently available. Make sure you meet job search requirements and file your weekly claims on time. Focus on finding work within that timeframe and you should be fine.
honestly the worst part about waiting is you miss out on those weekly benefit payments you could have been getting this whole time even if everything else works out you still lost 6 weeks of income
Final advice: file your claim tonight if possible, be completely honest about why you waited, and document everything going forward. You might not get those 6 weeks back, but you can still get benefits from here on out if you qualify. And if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about your specific situation, that Claimyr service really does help cut through the phone maze.

I bookmarked this thread for future reference. The Washington ESD system problems seem to be ongoing so these tips will probably be useful again.

•Unfortunately you're probably right about the ongoing issues. Good to have these solutions documented.

For anyone still having issues, I found that disabling VPN if you're using one also helps. The site seems to block some VPN IP addresses.

•That's a good point I didn't think of. Government sites often have restrictions on VPN access.
