When I was dealing with a UI tax question for my business, I used Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD. They connected me with an agent who explained the whole rate calculation system. Much easier than trying to call directly.
Same experience here! Claimyr saved me so much time and frustration with the phone system.
Bottom line: Washington employees don't pay UI taxes, employers do. The amount depends on the employer's experience rating. Benefits are funded entirely by employer contributions to Washington ESD.
Honestly the whole phone system needs an overhaul. It shouldn't be this hard to reach the agency that handles our benefits. But for now, persistence is key - keep calling until you get through.
Agreed, the system is frustrating. I'll keep trying the main number and might look into that Claimyr service if I can't get through soon.
Just an update - I finally got through yesterday after 5 days of trying. Turns out my claim was flagged for identity verification. Make sure to ask specifically about any flags on your account.
Just an update - I used Claimyr yesterday after seeing it mentioned here and actually got through to Washington ESD within 20 minutes. Found out my claim is just waiting on wage verification from my former employer. At least now I know what's happening instead of wondering.
Just want to add that your remaining weeks show up in your eServices account under 'Payment History' if you want to track how many you have left without calling.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, depends on your earnings, keep up with job search requirements, and file your weekly claims on time. That covers the basics for duration.

keep track of any severance pay or vacation payout from your employer. you'll need to report it and it might affect when your benefits start

•I got a small severance. Does that delay everything?

•it might delay your first payment depending on how much it was. the system will calculate it automatically when you report it

Good luck with your claim! The process seems overwhelming at first but it's really not that bad once you get started. Most people get through it without major problems.
