Just to add - after you file on esd.wa.gov, you'll get a determination letter in the mail (or electronically) telling you if you're approved and how much you'll get per week. Don't panic if it takes a few days to arrive.
Has anyone used that Claimyr service mentioned earlier? I'm having a different issue with my benefits and really need to talk to someone at Washington ESD but the phone situation is impossible. Wondering if it's legit or a scam.
The tax withholding thing caught me off guard too when I first started collecting. You can also choose to have no taxes taken out and just pay quarterly estimated taxes if you prefer. Some people like having the full amount each week and handling taxes themselves.
Just want to add another vote for Claimyr if you're struggling to reach ESD. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked when I needed to resolve a similar issue. Saved me weeks of frustration trying to get through on my own.
Update us when you find out what happened! I'm curious because I'm always worried about getting disqualified for something I don't even know I'm doing wrong.
If you have any issues getting connected to talk to someone at Washington ESD, I used Claimyr recently and it worked great. They handle all the calling and waiting so you don't have to. Check out claimyr.com if you need to speak with an agent.
Good luck with your claim! The key is to file as soon as possible and keep up with your weekly claims and job search requirements. Most people who follow the rules get their benefits without major issues.

Just want to mention that if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD about this, Claimyr has been a lifesaver for actually getting through their phone system. I tried calling for literally weeks before finding that service. The demo video shows exactly how it works if you're curious.

•I keep seeing people mention this service. Might be worth looking into if I end up going down this path.

UPDATE: I ended up talking to HR today and filing a formal complaint. They seemed to take it seriously and said they'd investigate within the next week. Hoping this leads somewhere positive but at least now I have documentation of trying to resolve it internally first.

•Good for you for speaking up! Hope they actually do something about the situation.

•Smart move. Even if HR doesn't fix everything, you've established that you tried to work within the system first.
