For what it's worth, my waiting period was actually longer than expected because I filed my claim on a holiday weekend. The processing doesn't start until the next business day, so timing matters.
The waiting period is annoying but just focus on your job search during that week. By the time your first payment comes through, you'll hopefully already have some good leads or even interviews lined up.
Make sure to keep track of all your job search activities in case Washington ESD asks for them. I got selected for a work search review and had to provide documentation of everything I did for several weeks.
Overall the Washington unemployment system is pretty generous compared to other states. Just follow the rules, file on time, and you should be fine. Good luck with your job search!
Final tip - if you do exhaust benefits and find temporary or part-time work, you might still be able to get partial unemployment payments. Washington allows this if you're earning less than your weekly benefit amount plus $5. Don't assume working part-time automatically disqualifies you.
Just want to say hang in there everyone waiting for approval. I know it's stressful but most claims do get approved eventually. The waiting is the worst part but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Final thought for the OP - if you hit the 3 week mark with no updates and no requests for additional information, that's when I'd definitely recommend calling to check on status. Don't just assume no news is good news.

I know this is stressful but try to get a good night's sleep before your hearing. You want to be sharp and focused when you're presenting your case. Good luck - it sounds like you have a strong case with the hour reduction!

•You've got this! The fact that you're preparing so thoroughly shows you're taking it seriously. That will come across in the hearing.

One last thing - if you used Claimyr or any other service to get through to Washington ESD, mention that in your hearing. It shows you made good faith efforts to resolve issues before the appeal. Demonstrates you weren't just trying to game the system.

•Great point! I did try calling Washington ESD multiple times before using other methods to get through. I'll make sure to mention that.

•Perfect. Shows you exhausted normal channels first, which hearing officers like to see.
