Final advice - after you submit your application, you'll get a letter in the mail (or email if you chose that) with your benefit amount and instructions for filing weekly claims. READ EVERYTHING they send you carefully. The instructions are important and missing something can delay your payments.
Good luck! The system isn't perfect but it does work. Just be patient and persistent. And seriously consider that Claimyr service if you need to talk to someone - I wish I'd known about it when I was going through this process.
Still think its ridiculous how hard it is to get Washington ESD on the phone to ask these basic questions about your own claim
That's exactly why services like Claimyr exist. The phone system is broken but people still need answers about their benefits.
One more thing - if you do get stuck trying to reach ESD during your adjudication process, I had success with Claimyr too. It's basically a service that helps you get through to ESD agents when you can't get through yourself. Really helped when I needed to provide additional information for my case.
Hope everyone gets their claims approved quickly and without too much hassle. The unemployment system can be stressful but at least the benefits provide some financial cushion while job hunting.
Final tip from someone who's been through this process - keep detailed records of everything. Your wage statements, when you filed, when you certified, etc. It makes everything easier if you need to appeal or have questions about your benefits later.

Try using a different device too. Sometimes the website works better on a phone vs computer or vice versa. The mobile version is actually pretty good now.

•I'll try that! I was only using my laptop so maybe my phone will work better.

If all else fails, contact your state representative's office. They have people who can help navigate Washington ESD issues and sometimes get faster responses than regular claimants.

•I had no idea state reps could help with this stuff. That's really good to know as a last resort.

•Yeah they have constituent services for exactly these kinds of bureaucratic problems.
