Quick reminder that if you run into any issues after filing, the Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier really does work. I was skeptical at first but they got me through to Washington ESD when I couldn't reach anyone for weeks. Worth checking out their demo video if you end up needing to talk to someone.
Final advice from someone who's been through this twice - file immediately, don't stress about having every detail perfect, and make sure you understand the weekly filing requirements. Those three things will set you up for success with Washington ESD.
Just remember that Washington ESD is required to make a determination within a certain timeframe. If it goes much beyond 3-4 weeks without any communication, that's when you should definitely try to contact them.
Hang in there! I know it's stressful but most claims do get approved eventually. The system is slow but it generally works if you were legitimately unemployed through no fault of your own.
thanks for all this info everyone, sounds like I need to be really careful about documenting everything if I file
One more thing - if you do get disqualified, don't give up. The appeal process exists for a reason and a lot of initial decisions get overturned.

The benefit calculator on Washington ESD's website can give you an estimate of your duration if you know your base period wages. Might be worth checking if you haven't already.

•I'll look for that calculator. Having a clear number would help with planning.

•It's under the 'Apply for Benefits' section I think. Gives you a rough idea before you even file your claim.

Bottom line: most people get 26 weeks, clock starts ticking when you file your first claim, and there's no extensions currently available. Plan your job search timeline accordingly and don't wait to get serious about finding work.
