Been waiting 19 days now and starting to panic. Bills are due and I'm running out of options. This process is way too slow for people who need help immediately.
Seriously consider using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD. At least you'll know where you stand instead of wondering if something went wrong.
My advice is to be patient but also proactive. Keep checking your account daily and if you see any requests for information, respond immediately. Delays often happen when people don't notice they need to submit something.
I tried that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked. Got connected to Washington ESD in like 20 minutes instead of calling all day myself. Worth it just for the time savings alone.
Thanks everyone for all the info! This thread has been super helpful. I think I probably do qualify based on what you've all said, but I'll check my wage history first to be sure.
Another thing to consider is that your benefit amount affects how long you can collect. The maximum is usually 26 weeks but it depends on your benefit year and total benefit amount.
So someone with a higher weekly amount might run out of benefits sooner than someone with a lower amount?
Just remember that unemployment benefits are taxable income! A lot of people forget this and get surprised at tax time. You can have taxes withheld from your weekly benefits or pay quarterly estimated taxes.
Anyone else find it weird that they make it so hard to get basic information about your own benefits? Like why do I need to call customer service just to understand how much time I have left? The website should make this clearer.
The Washington ESD website definitely needs improvement. Half the time I can't even log into SecureAccess Washington without issues.
RIGHT?? This is exactly why I ended up using that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. At least then I could actually talk to a human being who knew what they were talking about.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, check your account regularly, keep applying for jobs, and don't wait until the last minute to figure out your next steps. The system isn't perfect but those are the basics everyone needs to know.

One more thing - if you get approved for partial benefits, make sure you understand how the earnings offset works. You can earn up to a certain amount each week before it starts reducing your benefit payment. Washington ESD has a calculator on their website that shows how it works.

Hope everything works out for you OP! The system seems complicated but once you get through the initial application it's pretty straightforward. Just stay on top of your weekly claims and job search activities.
