The key is to stay organized and keep good records of everything. File promptly, keep track of your job search activities, and don't hesitate to reach out for help if you need it. The system works, but it takes patience.
One thing nobody mentioned - if you get approved for UI, you'll need to report any severance pay or vacation payout you receive. That can affect your benefit timing. Just something to keep in mind.
Bottom line - file your claim as soon as you're terminated, be completely honest about what happened, keep all your documentation, and don't panic if it goes to adjudication. Most non-misconduct cases get approved eventually, it just takes time.
Keep checking both your online account and your mailbox. Some notifications come electronically, others still come as physical mail.
This thread has been super helpful. I was dreading having to deal with unemployment paperwork but it sounds much more manageable now. Thanks everyone!
Final reminder for anyone filing - make sure you understand the waiting week. Your first week of unemployment won't be paid, but you still need to file that weekly claim. It's just how the system works in Washington state.

Just to add - make sure you're honest on your applications about previous claims if they ask. Washington ESD has records of all your past claims anyway, so transparency is always the best policy.

•Do they specifically ask about previous claims on the application? I don't remember seeing that question.

•They might not ask directly, but they have access to your full UI history in their system. Just be truthful if any questions come up.

Thanks everyone for all the info! Sounds like I was worrying about nothing. Going to go ahead and file my claim if I end up getting laid off. Good to know there's no arbitrary limit on how many times you can use unemployment benefits.
