Based on everything you've described, you should definitely qualify. $18K in earnings with a mix of full-time and part-time work, plus an involuntary separation - that checks all the boxes for Washington ESD eligibility.
UNEMPLOYMENT PAY IS A JOKE! I worked for 15 years and when I finally need help, they want to give me $300 a week. How is that supposed to cover a mortgage and bills? The system is broken!
Just want to add that unemployment pay can be affected if you do any part-time work while collecting benefits. You have to report all earnings and they'll reduce your weekly benefit accordingly.
Also remember to set up your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account if you don't already have one. That's how you'll access your unemployment account and file weekly claims.
Also remember that Washington ESD requires you to be actively looking for work, so don't delay filing if you're eligible. The sooner you file, the sooner your benefit year starts.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! I feel much more prepared now. Going to gather everything this weekend and file early next week.
One more thing - if you're having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone for questions, I had success with Claimyr too. They have this automated system that keeps calling until someone picks up, then connects you. Saved me literally hours of frustration.

One thing to remember is that even if you qualify for benefits, the amount you get depends on your highest quarter earnings. So working longer or earning more doesn't just help you qualify - it can increase your weekly benefit amount too.

•That's a good point. I hadn't thought about how it affects the actual benefit amount.

•Yeah, they calculate your weekly benefit based on your highest quarter, so having strong earnings in one quarter really helps.

I had a similar situation and was stressing about it for nothing. 8 months of steady work is definitely enough in Washington. The real challenge comes after you qualify - dealing with the weekly claims and job search requirements.

•Good to know. I guess I should focus on understanding the ongoing requirements too.

•Yeah, the initial qualification is actually the easy part. The weekly maintenance is where most people run into issues.
