PA UC payment delay due to Veterans Day 2025 - Tuesday or Wednesday deposit?

Just realized Veterans Day is Monday next week and wondering if our UC payments will hit accounts on Tuesday or get pushed to Wednesday? I normally get my payment on Tuesday but not sure how the holiday affects the schedule. Anyone know for sure? Need to plan bill payments and don't wanna get hit with late fees if there's a delay. Thanks!

When a holiday falls on Monday, PA unemployment payments typically get pushed back one day. So if you normally receive on Tuesday, you'll likely get it Wednesday instead. The payment processing system doesn't run on federal holidays.

Thanks! That's what I was afraid of. Guess I'll have to move some things around to make sure everything gets paid on time.

Not always true tho. Last MLK day my deposit still hit Tuesday morning! I think it depends on your bank too, not just PA UC processing.

The official rule is that PA UC payments are delayed by one business day for each holiday. Veterans Day (Nov 11, 2025) is a federal holiday, so the payment processing that would normally happen Monday gets pushed to Tuesday, and your deposit that would normally arrive Tuesday gets pushed to Wednesday. However, if you file your weekly claim on Sunday before the holiday instead of waiting until Monday, sometimes it can still process on time. Worth trying!

Oh that's good to know! I usually file on Sunday anyway, so maybe I'll get lucky and it'll still come Tuesday. Fingers crossed!

THIS SYSTEM IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! Why can't they just run the payment system on holidays like every other modern business?? Some of us have bills due the same day every month and can't just "be flexible" because PA UC can't figure out how to run computers on a holiday. RIDICULOUS!!!

I understand the frustration, but this isn't just a PA UC issue - most government payment systems and even many banks don't process payments on federal holidays. It's a good practice to avoid scheduling bills within 2-3 days of your expected UC payment just to give yourself buffer for these situations.

After dealing with constant payment delays last year, I found a way to actually get through to a PA UC agent to confirm payment dates during holidays. Used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an agent in under 15 minutes instead of calling for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent told me that yes, Veterans Day will push payments to Wednesday for most people who normally get paid Tuesday. But she also mentioned that if you file early (Sunday) and your bank processes ACH transfers on holidays, you might still see it Tuesday. Worth asking your agent about your specific situation.

Thanks for this tip! I might try it if my payment doesn't come through on Tuesday. Been impossible to get anyone on the phone normally.

i got rent due on the 15th so hoping it comes in time lol my landlord dont care about no holidays

If your rent is due on the 15th, you should be fine even with the one-day delay. The payment would arrive on Wednesday the 12th, giving you three days before your due date.

Wait I'm confused now. If we file weekly claim on Sunday (before Veterans Day), does that mean we might still get paid Tuesday? Or is it definitely Wednesday? My benefit year just renewed and I'm still figuring out how all this works.

It mostly depends on your bank. PA UC will process payments one day later (Tuesday instead of Monday). Some banks will still make those funds available the next day (Tuesday), while others strictly follow the actual ACH processing date and won't release until Wednesday. Filing on Sunday instead of Monday won't change the processing date, but it ensures your claim is in the system ready to process as soon as they open on Tuesday.

Thanks for confirming from past experience. Sounds like I should definitely plan for Wednesday then.

I remember when this happened on Memorial Day and I called PA UC like 127 TIMES and couldn't get through to ask about my payment! Then they tell us to use the chat feature but that thing NEVER works either. How are we supposed to get information when they make it IMPOSSIBLE to contact them??

That's exactly why I started using Claimyr. I was calling for 3 days straight during Labor Day weekend last year with no luck. At least with their service I got through and could confirm when my payment would arrive. Saved me a lot of stress wondering if there was something wrong with my claim.

Just to clarify for everyone: The PA UC payment process works like this during holidays: 1. You file your weekly claim (Sunday-Friday) 2. PA UC processes claims the next business day 3. The payment hits your account 1-2 days after processing So with Veterans Day on Monday: - Claims filed Sunday/Monday will process Tuesday - Most people will see deposits Wednesday - Some banks might still show it Tuesday depending on how they handle pending deposits Hope this helps everyone plan accordingly!

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll definitely plan for Wednesday but be pleasantly surprised if it comes Tuesday.

Just wanted to add my experience from last Veterans Day - I bank with PNC and even though PA UC processed payments on Tuesday instead of Monday, my deposit still showed up Tuesday morning around 6 AM. So it might depend on your specific bank's policies for handling delayed ACH transfers. Worth checking with your bank to see if they release funds as soon as they receive them or wait for the official processing date. Either way, definitely safer to plan for Wednesday just in case!

That's really good to know about PNC! I have Citizens Bank and I'm wondering if they do the same thing. Might be worth calling them tomorrow to ask about their policy on holiday ACH delays. Thanks for sharing your experience - gives me some hope I might still see it Tuesday even if it's processed a day late.

I've been through this same situation multiple times and here's what I've learned: Yes, Veterans Day will almost certainly push your payment to Wednesday instead of Tuesday. The key thing is to file your weekly claim as early as possible (Sunday is best) to make sure you're first in line when they start processing on Tuesday. Also, if you have bills due around that time, consider calling your creditors/landlord ahead of time to let them know about the one-day delay. Most are understanding about government payment delays during holidays. I've found it's much better to give them a heads up rather than scramble to explain after the fact if something's late. One more tip - set up text alerts with your bank if you haven't already. That way you'll know the exact moment your deposit hits instead of constantly checking your account all day Tuesday/Wednesday!
