PA UC payment delay: 'Today is not observed holiday' message but funds still missing

Been filing my biweekly PA unemployment claims on schedule. Due to get paid today (Wednesday) like always, but nothing hit my Money Network card. Checked my UC portal and everything says payment was issued, but the funds aren't there! When I called the automated UC payment line it said 'Today is not the observed holiday' then some gibberish about processing timeframes. Anyone else's payment delayed? This is super frustrating cause my rent is due tomorrow and I was counting on this money. Is this happening to anyone else or just me?

Glad I'm not alone but also sorry you're dealing with this too. Let me know if yours shows up, I'll keep checking mine hourly...

There's actually a 2-day processing delay happening right now because of system maintenance. I got the same message, called and finally got through to an agent who explained they're doing some backend updates that slowed down payment processing. Should hit accounts by Friday at the latest.

Wait, how did you actually get through to someone?? I've been calling all morning and just get endless busy signals or the automated system!

I had this exact problem last month. The 'not observed holiday' message is super confusing but it's their system's way of saying there's a processing delay that's not related to a holiday. Usually means 1-2 extra business days before it posts to your Money Network card. Mine came through on day 3 instead of the usual next-day deposit.

This happens every few months when PA UC does system updates. The 'not observed holiday' message is confusing, but it basically means there's a processing delay unrelated to holidays. Your payment has been approved (as you see in the portal), but the transfer to Money Network is delayed. A few things to check: 1. Verify your payment says 'Payment issued' not just 'Payment authorized' 2. Check if there's a transaction number associated with the payment 3. Make sure your Money Network card is still active (they expire every few years) If everything looks good, it's just the system delay and should resolve within 48-72 hours. This is unfortunately normal for PA UC.

Thank you, this is really helpful! It does say 'Payment issued' with a transaction number, and my card is definitely active (used it last payment). I guess I'll just have to wait and hope it comes through by Friday. Really appreciate the detailed explanation!

I had the same issue and tried calling for 3 days with no luck - busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting forever. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 20 minutes who explained the delay and confirmed my payment was processing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Agent told me there was a system glitch affecting about 30% of claimants this week that's causing 2-3 day delays. Not everyone is affected which is why some people got paid normally.

UPDATE: Payment finally hit my Money Network card this morning (Friday) - 2 days late but at least it came through! Looks like it was just a processing delay like people mentioned. Thanks everyone for the help and info!

This happens every January too cause of tax stuff.... my brother works for the state (not UC tho) and he says beginning of year they always have delays with payments across many departments... something about fiscal year adjustments or whatever

That's interesting - I didn't know about the January delays being connected to fiscal adjustments, but it makes sense. Thanks for sharing that inside perspective!
