PA UC claim stuck waiting for out-of-state wages from Delaware employer - help!

I'm so frustrated with this interstate wage situation! I was working remotely from my home in Pittsburgh for a company based in Delaware until they downsized our department in February. I initially filed with Delaware UC thinking that's where I should apply since the company is headquartered there. Delaware processed my application quickly and then told me I needed to file in PA since that's where I physically worked (even though it was remote). So I filed with PA about 3 weeks ago, uploaded all my documentation, and now my claim is just sitting there with PA saying they're "waiting to receive wage information from Delaware." My claim status hasn't changed in 2 weeks! Has anyone dealt with an out-of-state employer situation? Is there any way to speed up this wage transfer process? My savings are getting dangerously low and I don't know how much longer I can wait for benefits to start.

I had a similar situation last year with a New Jersey employer. PA UC is notoriously slow with interstate claims. What should happen is PA requests your wage info from Delaware through something called the Interstate Connection Network (ICON), but this can take 4-6 weeks sometimes. You can try calling the Interstate Claims office directly at 717-787-4268 rather than the main UC number - they sometimes answer faster and can specifically check on wage transfer status.

Thank you! I'll try that number today. Did you have to do anything special to get Delaware to release your wage info faster? I'm worried they might not respond quickly to PA's request.

Two MONTHS?? That's insane! I don't have that kind of savings. There has to be a way to speed this up.

Interstate claims are definitely challenging. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call both states' unemployment offices to confirm the wage transfer request is active 2. Ask PA UC for the specific date they requested your Delaware wages 3. Contact Delaware's UC office and ask them to expedite sending your wage data 4. Request a "combined wage claim" specifically if you worked in both states 5. Document all communication with both states (dates, names, confirmation numbers) Also, make sure you're still filing your weekly certification claims in PA even though you haven't been approved yet. You'll get back pay for all properly filed weeks once the interstate wage transfer is complete.

This is really helpful advice, thank you! I've been filing my weekly claims but didn't know I should contact Delaware directly. I'll try that tomorrow morning.

If calling both states' unemployment offices seems impossible, you might want to check out Claimyr. I was in a similar position with my NJ wages not showing up in my PA claim. I spent WEEKS trying to reach someone at PA UC with no luck. Then I found Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they got me connected to a PA UC agent within 30 minutes! The agent was able to initiate an expedited wage request while I was on the phone. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It saved me weeks of waiting and stress.

It worked for me when I was desperate after trying for 3 weeks to get through. They just help you bypass the phone queue. The PA agent I spoke with was able to see the wage request was stuck and fixed it while I was on the phone.

THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!!! I waited EIGHT WEEKS for my wages from Ohio to show up in PA's system last year. Called every day, left messages, sent emails. NOTHING HELPED. Finally had to contact my state representative's office and magically two days later my claim was processed. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!!

Wow, eight weeks is terrible! I'm definitely going to try the state rep option if I don't see movement soon. Which department in their office did you contact?

Just called the main office number for my rep and explained the situation. They have staff who deal with state agencies all the time. They'll have you fill out a form giving them permission to inquire about your case.

i think u can also ask for a partial payment based on just ur PA wages while waiting for the delaware ones to come thru? not 100% sure but my cousin did something like that

That's only possible if the person had PA wages in their base year. From the original post, it sounds like all their wages were from Delaware.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at PA UC! The interstate claims rep said Delaware hadn't responded to their initial wage request from 3 weeks ago. They sent a second "urgent" request and told me to also contact Delaware UC myself. The rep said if Delaware doesn't respond within 10 days, PA can potentially process my claim using the pay stubs I uploaded as proof of wages. Keeping my fingers crossed something happens soon!

thats good news!! keep pushing them every few days dont let them forget about u

Great progress! Make sure to follow up with Delaware UC as well. Ask them specifically for the name of the person handling your wage transfer and get a reference number. The more specific info you have, the easier it is to track the process.

FINAL UPDATE: My claim was finally processed! It took exactly 5 weeks from start to finish. For anyone facing the same interstate wage problem: 1) Call the interstate claims office directly, 2) Contact your former state's UC office to make sure they send the wage data, 3) Upload all your pay stubs and W-2s to your PA dashboard as backup, 4) Don't give up! Thanks everyone for your help and advice through this stressful process.

Congratulations! Really glad it worked out for you. The interstate system is definitely broken, but persistence pays off.

Great news! Did you end up getting all your back weeks paid too?

Yes! I got paid for all 5 back weeks at once, which was a huge relief. The money hit my Money Network card yesterday.

So glad to see your final update! I'm currently dealing with a similar situation with my Maryland wages not transferring to PA and this gives me hope. Question - when you called the interstate claims office, did you have to wait long to get through? I've been trying the main PA UC number for weeks with no luck. Also, did Delaware UC give you any pushback when you contacted them directly about expediting the wage transfer?
