PA UC claim showing missing weeks after refiling - only new weeks visible in benefits summary

So my husband had to refile for UC because his construction job cut his hours way back for winter season. His previous claim is completely finished - we got all payments and that claim is closed. Now here's the weird part: he filed for benefits for the first two weeks in January 2025, but when we look at his UC benefits summary online, those two weeks aren't showing up AT ALL. Only the weeks he filed after that are visible. The money from those first two weeks never came through either. Has anyone dealt with this? Is there some kind of waiting period when you refile that makes early weeks disappear? I'm worried those weeks are just gone forever and we really need that money with his reduced hours.

this happened 2 me too! filed in December after seasonal layoff & my first 3 weeks just disappeared from the system. never got paid for them. PA UC website is such garbage

Did you ever get it resolved or find out what happened? Did you have to call them?

When your husband refiled, was it a new benefit year or was he reopening a claim within the same benefit year? There's a big difference. If it's a new benefit year, there's a "waiting week" for the first eligible week where you don't get paid. But that wouldn't explain both weeks missing from the summary screen. Also, check if his new financial determination has been processed - sometimes the system won't display weeks until that's complete.

It's definitely a new benefit year - the old one ended in November. I didn't know about the waiting week thing, but you're right that doesn't explain both weeks vanishing. His financial determination letter came about a week ago, so that should be processed by now. The whole situation is so confusing.

SAME EXACT THING just happened to my wife!!!! Her first 3 weeks after refiling just vanished from the system. We called and called and called for 2 weeks straight and couldnt get through to anyone. So frustrating! Did your husband answer all the work search questions correctly? Sometimes if you make a mistake they just delete the weeks instead of letting you fix it which is RIDICULOUS

Oh no! That's exactly what I'm afraid of. He definitely did all the work search activities and answered everything correctly. Were you ever able to get through to someone about it?

That's what I'm trying to do but it's impossible to get through! Been calling the 888 number for days and just get busy signals or the "too many callers" message. So frustrating.

This is actually a known issue with the PA UC system when transitioning between claims. Those weeks aren't lost, but they are in a sort of "limbo" status that doesn't display on the regular benefits summary page. Here's what's happening: 1. When you file a new claim, any weeks claimed during the financial determination review period get placed in a separate queue 2. These weeks need manual processing by an examiner once the financial determination is complete 3. They won't show on the regular summary page until processed You DO need to reach a live person to resolve this. Unfortunately, calling the regular UC number can take days or weeks to get through. Your husband should continue filing for current weeks while trying to resolve this issue.

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! That makes sense now. But how do we actually reach someone? I've been trying the 888 number for days with no luck.

After dealing with the PA UC phones for 3 weeks straight and never getting through, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach an agent about my missing weeks issue. They got me connected to a UC rep in about 20 minutes instead of calling for weeks. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent was able to see my missing weeks in their system and manually release them. Apparently it's a common glitch with the benefits portal not displaying weeks that are pending review when you refile.

Thank you! I've never heard of this service before. Did the agent actually fix your missing weeks once you got through? I'm desperate at this point.

Yes! The UC rep could see my "invisible" weeks in their system. They were stuck in pending review status which is why they didn't show up online. She manually released them and I got paid about 5 days later. Definitely worth it after spending weeks trying to call with no success.

i would just keep claiming weeks and wait it will probly fix itself thats what happened with my brothers claim the system is just slow sometimes

This is unfortunately incorrect advice for this specific situation. When weeks are in this "limbo" status after refiling, they will NOT automatically fix themselves in the system. They require manual intervention by a claims examiner. Continuing to file for current weeks is good advice, but without contacting UC about the missing weeks, they could potentially be lost.

UPDATE: Finally got through to someone at UC! The agent confirmed what @helpfulUCexpert said - those weeks were stuck in a review status because of the transition between claim years. They weren't showing on my summary page because they were flagged for manual review. The agent was able to see them in their system and has now pushed them through for payment! For anyone with a similar issue - don't assume the weeks are gone just because they don't show up on your summary page. They might be in the system but not visible to you. And definitely keep trying to reach someone because these weeks won't process automatically.

I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. I was skeptical but desperate after trying for days. Got connected to a real person in about 30 minutes. Worth it considering I was getting nowhere calling directly!
