PA UC asking for 'missing wages' after I selected still employed but didn't work hours - will I lose benefits?
I'm so confused and starting to panic about my partial UC claim. When filing my weekly certification, it asked if I still work for my employer or received wages. I clicked 'yes' because I technically still work there (on-call status). But when it asked for hours worked and wages earned, I left those blank since I didn't actually work any hours this week. Now my claim status shows 'missing wages information' and I'm scared I messed up. Do I need to contact UC to fix this? Will they deny my benefits because of this error? Has anyone else dealt with this situation with partial employment?

This is actually a common mistake when filing for partial benefits. The system expects you to enter '0' for hours and wages when you're still attached to an employer but didn't work that week. Leaving it blank triggers the 'missing wages' error. You should file a weekly certification correction ASAP through your dashboard or by calling. Otherwise, they might delay your payment while waiting for the missing information.

•Thank you for explaining! I didn't realize I needed to put 0s instead of leaving it blank. Do you know how long I have to submit the correction before they deny the payment completely?

I had EXACTLY the same issue last month!! SO frustrating. Called for 3 days straight and couldn't get through. My payment was delayed 2 weeks because of it. When I finally got someone they fixed it right away but why make the form so confusing??? If you're on the payroll but didn't work you HAVE to enter 0s, not leave blank!!

•The UC system is designed to trip people up, I swear. They're hoping you'll make mistakes so they can deny benefits. Always enter zeros, never leave anything blank!

You should be able to fix this by submitting a weekly certification correction. Log into your account, go to 'View My Weekly Certifications', select the week in question, and there should be an option to correct it. Enter '0' for hours and wages. If that option isn't available, you'll need to call UC directly to have them fix it. This won't affect your eligibility as long as you correct it promptly.

•I looked for that correction option but don't see it on my dashboard. Guess I'll have to call them... which seems impossible these days.

i tried calling UC last week for a different issue and got busy signals for DAYS. finally used claimyr.com and got through in like 30 mins. they have this video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. way better than spending hours redialing. the agent fixed my partial benefits issue right away once I got through.

•Did they charge you for that? Seems wrong that we have to pay just to reach unemployment when we're already struggling financially...

yeah there is a fee but tbh it was worth it since i was about to miss rent payment waiting for my benefits. beats calling 50+ times a day for a week straight lol. they don't get your personal info either, just connect the call

•Thanks for the suggestion. My rent is due next week so I might try this if I can't get through tomorrow. Did they ask you any verification questions when you finally reached someone?

For future reference, the PA UC system is very picky about these details. When you're on partial unemployment or still technically employed but with reduced hours, you MUST enter zeros when you don't work, not leave fields blank. The system interprets blank fields as incomplete information rather than zero values. Always double-check your certification before submitting - even small mistakes can delay payments by weeks.

Also make sure when you DO work some hours in future weeks, you report GROSS wages (before taxes) for the week you WORKED them, not when you get paid. That's another common mistake that causes problems with partial benefits!

•Thanks for the tip! I didn't know about reporting when you worked vs when you got paid. This whole system is so complicated.

i made this exact mistake my first time filing back in January and freaked out too lol. ended up getting my payment after calling but it was 10 days late. the lady on the phone said they see this mistake ALL THE TIME and should really fix the form to make it more clear. just another example of how the whole system is designed to be confusing imo

Don't panic - this is a super common issue! I work part-time in benefits administration and see this mistake constantly. The key thing is to get it corrected quickly. Try calling first thing in the morning (around 8 AM) when call volume is lower. If you can't get through, keep trying every few hours. The correction is usually simple once you reach someone - they just need to update your certification to show $0 wages and 0 hours instead of blank fields. Your benefits shouldn't be denied over this as long as you're proactive about fixing it. The system just needs complete information, even if that information is zeros.

•Thank you so much for the reassurance! It's really helpful to hear from someone who works in benefits administration. I was worried I'd somehow disqualified myself. I'll definitely try calling first thing in the morning - hopefully the early timing will help me get through faster. Do you know if there's typically a deadline for making these corrections, or is it more about getting it done before the next certification period?
