PA UC agent not calling back after state rep intervention - trying to get 2024 backpay
So frustrated with this whole PA UC situation! I had my state representative intervene to help with my backpay from last year (about $4,800 that I'm still waiting on). A UC agent actually called me last week while I was at work, but I couldn't answer. They left a voicemail saying to call them back, which I did literally 20 minutes later. It's been 5 days now and NOTHING - complete silence! Do I need to go through my state rep AGAIN just to get another callback? Has anyone been through this ridiculous callback loop before? I'm at my wit's end trying to get money that's rightfully mine from 2024. Any advice on what to do next?

Yeah, unfortunately this happens a lot with PA UC. When they call, they use a special internal line that you can't call back directly. When you call the main number, you're just getting into the general queue again with no way to reach that specific agent. The voicemail they leave is basically useless. Your options are: 1) Contact your state rep again and explain you missed the call but tried calling back, 2) Try calling the UC service center directly at 7:55am when they first open to have better chances of getting through, or 3) Send a message through your UC dashboard, though those often go unanswered for weeks.

•Seriously?? So the voicemail they left me with a callback number was pointless? That makes me even more frustrated. I'll try the 7:55am trick tomorrow but my past experience with the regular line is just busy signals for hours. Thanks for explaining.

•A MONTH? I can't wait another month! I've already been waiting since last year. This is ridiculous.

I work with PA UC claimants regularly. Here's what's happening: When you get a call from a claims examiner, they're working on a specific batch of claims that day. When you call back the main line, you don't get routed back to that same examiner. The system doesn't have any way to flag or prioritize your return call. My advice: 1. Email your state rep again with "FOLLOW-UP - MISSED UC CALL" in the subject line 2. Include the exact date/time of the missed call and when you called back 3. Ask them to request another callback, specifically noting that you missed the previous attempt State reps have direct channels to UC supervisors that bypass the regular phone lines, and they can often get things moving faster than you trying on your own.

•Thank you! I just sent an email to my state rep's office with the subject line you suggested. Hopefully they can help again. It's crazy that there's no system to handle return calls properly.

Omg the PA unemployment system is BROKEN!!!! I had to contact my state rep THREE TIMES last year to get my payments. The first two times I got callbacks but the issues weren't resolved, the third time finally worked. Don't give up but expect it to take forever. The whole system is designed to make people give up.

•Yep this is why they do it - they WANT people to give up so they don't have to pay out benefits. Stay persistent!

I was stuck in this same callback limbo for nearly a month trying to get my backpay. After endless busy signals and unreturned messages, I tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) and actually got through to a PA UC agent in about 25 minutes. They have this system that basically waits on hold for you and calls when they get an agent. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 It finally let me speak to someone who could see my claim history and help resolve my backpay issue. Much better than going through the state rep process multiple times.

•Does that really work? I've been trying to get through for weeks about my open issue

•Yeah it worked for me after nothing else did. Just make sure you have all your claim info ready when they connect you.

tbh you shouldnt even bother calling back. these agents are handling hundreds of calls a day and wont remember you. i would just start the whole process again with your state rep and be super clear about what you need. my backpay took 6 months to get!!!!

•6 MONTHS?!? I can't believe this is normal. I'm already at 5 months for my backpay claim. I'll definitely recontact my rep tomorrow.

One additional tip: whenever you're dealing with backpay, make sure you have very clear documentation of your original claim dates, confirmation numbers, and any correspondence. I had success getting my backpay by creating a simple timeline document that showed exactly when I filed, when I was eligible, and why I was owed the money. Having this ready when I finally got through to a UC agent made the process much smoother since they could immediately understand my case.

•That's really smart. I'm going to create a document like that tonight so I'm prepared whenever I do get through to someone. I have screenshots of everything, thankfully.

•YES!!! I check that stupid portal every day because I've had my status change without ANY notification! It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible!!!
