PA UC Fact Finder form - how long before determination after submitting?

Just spent 2 hours completing the Fact Finder form PA UC sent me about my job separation. They're questioning if I was laid off or fired (I was definitely laid off!). Has anyone gone through this process recently? How long did you have to wait after submitting the Fact Finder before getting a determination? My claim has been pending for 3 weeks already and bills are stacking up fast. Getting nervous since my Money Network card has $0 on it and rent is due next week.

I submitted a Fact Finder in January after my employer contested my layoff. Took exactly 4 weeks to get my determination letter (approved thankfully). They're pretty backed up this quarter with all the manufacturing cuts happening. Make sure you've submitted any supporting documentation they asked for - that can delay things further if missing.

Thanks for responding! Did you call them at all during those 4 weeks or just wait it out? I uploaded my termination letter but that's all I had.

Oh no, that's what I'm afraid of! Did you end up winning your appeal? How long did that take?

The Fact Finder questionnaire is a critical part of determining eligibility when there's a question about your separation reason. The timeline varies significantly based on complexity and current workload. Based on recent patterns, PA UC is taking between 3-6 weeks to process Fact Finders for separation issues. If your former employer disagrees with your account, it can take longer as they compare statements. While waiting, you should: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims even without payment 2. Check your dashboard for any new action items 3. Make sure you're completing your work search activities (need 2 per week) 4. Watch for any correspondence in your UC portal If you need to expedite due to financial hardship, you can try contacting your state representative's office - they sometimes can help with UC inquiries.

Thank you for the detailed info! I've been doing my work searches but wasn't sure if I should keep filing weekly while waiting. Will definitely continue now. I'll try my state rep if nothing happens by next week.

I'm in the same boat right now!! My employer is claiming I was fired for attendance but I had approved FMLA leaves for everything. Been waiting 5 weeks since submitting my Fact Finder and nothing yet. This is so stressful - how are we supposed to pay bills while they figure this out? Has anyone found a way to talk to a real person at UC??

I was in a similar situation last month with the Fact Finder delay. After trying for days with busy signals, I finally got through to a PA UC rep using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They basically call UC for you and connect you when they get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 When I finally got through, they told me exactly what was causing the delay with my Fact Finder (they needed one more document) and what I needed to do. Claim was approved the following week. Definitely worth it when you're stuck waiting with no answers.

Don't just sit around waiting! Call your state senator's office NOW! I was stuck in pending with a Fact Finder for over a month. Called my senator's office, and they have special contacts at UC. My claim was magically approved 3 days later. Don't wait!!

That's a great idea - I hadn't thought of the state senator option. I'll try both that and calling UC directly. Thanks!

Just to follow up on the earlier advice: if you're facing financial hardship while waiting for the Fact Finder determination, make sure to document that when communicating with your state representative or senator. Cases with imminent eviction, utility shutoffs, or medical needs are often prioritized. Also, continue checking your PA UC dashboard daily. Sometimes they'll request additional information through action items that don't trigger email notifications. Missing these can further delay your determination.

Thanks for the follow-up advice. I've been checking the dashboard but didn't realize they might not send email notifications for new items. Will make sure to check daily and document my hardship when I contact my rep.

UPDATE: I got through to PA UC this morning (used that Claimyr service someone mentioned - worked great). The agent told me my Fact Finder is "in the review queue" but couldn't give me a specific timeline. She did confirm they have everything they need from me and there's nothing else I need to submit. Just need to wait now. At least I know it's moving forward!

That's good news! At least you know they're not waiting for something else from you. In my experience, once it's fully in the review queue with all documents, it's usually 1-2 weeks. Keep filing those weekly claims!
