Need PA UC phone number that actually works - desperate after 2 weeks of busy signals
I've been trying to reach someone at PA unemployment for DAYS about my claim status. My benefit payment stopped 2 weeks ago with no explanation, and the online portal just shows "pending" with no details. I've called the main number I found online about 30 times but keep getting busy signals or the automated message saying they're too busy. Does anyone have a direct number or extension that actually works to reach a real person? My rent is due next week and I'm seriously freaking out.

•I've been using 888-313-7284, the main UC number from their website. Is there another one I should be calling?

That's the correct main number, but they're notoriously difficult to reach. The best strategy is to call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open (not even 8:01, literally right at 8:00). Have your claim number and all your info ready to go. Also, Mondays and Tuesdays are the worst days to call - try Thursday or Friday if possible.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll try calling right at 8am tomorrow. Do you know if there's a specific option I should select in the menu to get help with a pending payment?

I was in the EXACT same situation last month!!! Called for TWO WEEKS straight and couldn't get through. I was about to lose my mind until someone told me about Claimyr. It's a service that basically calls PA UC for you and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent is available. Saved me so much frustration. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 My issue was also a pending payment that turned out to be because they needed additional verification of my identity. Got it resolved in one call once I actually reached someone!

•Omg thank you!!! I'm going to check this out right now. At this point I'm willing to try anything. Did it take long for them to get you connected?

•It took about 45 minutes for me, but WAY better than calling all day and not getting through at all. Just make sure you answer when they call you back because they connect you right to the UC agent.

•While the system can certainly be frustrating, it's actually due to understaffing rather than deliberate obstacles. PA UC is handling thousands of claims with limited staff. Your best bet is still to be persistent with calling and make sure all your paperwork and weekly claims are filed correctly in the meantime.

I had my claim stuck pending for 3 weeks back in January. For me, I found out I had answered a question wrong on my weekly certification (I said I was unavailable for work one day because I had a doctor's appointment, but you're supposed to say 'yes' to being available unless you're completely unavailable all week). When I finally got through to someone, they fixed it in like 5 minutes and released all my payments. Have you double-checked all your weekly certifications to make sure everything is filled out correctly? Sometimes the smallest thing can trigger a hold.

•I just went back and checked and I think I might have messed up! On my last certification I reported some freelance income but I might have entered it wrong. But I still need to talk to someone to fix it. I'm definitely going to try the early morning call tomorrow plus look into that Claimyr service the other person mentioned.

Update: I FINALLY got through this morning!! Used that Claimyr service and got connected within an hour. Turns out there was an issue with how I reported my freelance earnings (just like someone here suggested). The rep cleared it up and said my payments should resume with the next cycle. They're also releasing the payments that were held. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's great news! Make sure you keep detailed records of your freelance work for the future. I track all my side gigs in a spreadsheet with dates, hours, and earnings to make reporting easier. Glad you got it sorted out!
