PA UC payment delays - stuck for 6 weeks with no contact option

I'm at my wits' end trying to get hold of someone at the PA unemployment office. My benefits stopped showing up 6 weeks ago without any explanation or notification. My claim status still shows as 'active' but there's been zero movement on payments since mid-March. I've called the PA UC number literally 47 times this week alone and either get a busy signal or that automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume. I've sent emails through the dashboard message center and nothing. I've got rent due next week and my landlord isn't exactly the understanding type. Has anyone found an actual working method to reach a human being at PA unemployment? I'm desperate at this point.

How did you finally get through to them? I'm willing to try literally anything at this point.

There could be several reasons your payments stopped. Most common are: 1) You have an 'open issue' on your claim that requires reviewer attention, 2) There was a discrepancy in your weekly certification, 3) You've reached the end of your benefit year, or 4) Your ID verification needs to be completed again. Have you checked your dashboard for any 'action needed' notifications? Sometimes these appear without email alerts.

I checked the dashboard and don't see any action items or notices. Everything looks normal except for the fact that no money is being deposited. It's like my claim is stuck in limbo.

I've tried that several times - even set my alarm for 7:55am. Still can't get through. It's like everyone in Pennsylvania is calling at exactly 8:00am.

I had a similar issue last month and discovered my claim had an 'open issue' that wasn't visible on my dashboard. The only way I found out was by speaking with an agent. After struggling to get through for weeks, I used a service called Claimyr that got me connected to a PA UC representative within about 30 minutes. They have a system that keeps dialing until it gets through, then calls you when an agent is on the line. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Once I finally spoke with someone, they resolved my issue in about 10 minutes and my payments started again the following week.

is this a legit service?? sounds to good to be true tbh

Yes, it's legitimate. I was skeptical too, but it worked for me and several people in my Facebook unemployment group. It's not free, but considering I was about to lose my apartment, it was worth it to finally get my claim fixed.

Thank you for this! At this point I'd pay almost anything to get this resolved. I'll check out the service. My anxiety is through the roof with bills piling up.

The UC system is DELIBERATELY designed to be impossible to reach! They WANT people to give up so they don't have to pay benefits. I worked for PA government (not UC) for 7 years and this is how ALL their systems work. They're still using computers from the 1980s and half the staff doesn't know what they're doing. Even if you get through, the person might give you completely wrong information. I had THREE DIFFERENT AGENTS tell me THREE DIFFERENT THINGS about my claim last year. It's a joke.

This is exactly what happened to my brother too! He got told completely different things by different agents and ended up having to appeal!

Another option is to contact your state representative's office. They often have direct lines to unemployment liaisons who can look into claim issues. Find your rep here: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/ I'd recommend trying both approaches - using Claimyr to get through directly AND contacting your state rep as a backup. Sometimes the state rep route can take 1-2 weeks, but they're usually very helpful with unemployment issues.

I didn't even think about contacting my state rep. That's a great suggestion, thank you. I'll try both approaches and hope something works before I get evicted.

when this happened to me last fall it was because my benefit year ended and I needed to file a new claim but they never told me! check when your initial claim was filed - if it's been about a year you might need to start a whole new application

I checked and my benefit year doesn't end until September, so that's not it. But thanks for the suggestion, I wouldn't have thought to check that.

UPDATE???? did u get through??? im starting to worry about my claim again cuz I got this weird letter yesterday about quarterly review or something

0 coins

Yes! I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and finally got through yesterday! Turns out there was an employer protest on my claim that never showed up in my dashboard. The agent was able to push it through to review and said I should see payments resume within 7-10 days. Such a relief!

@Gianni Serpent That s'awesome news! So glad you got it sorted out. An employer protest that doesn t'show up on the dashboard is exactly the kind of BS hidden issue that keeps people stuck for months. For your quarterly review letter - definitely don t'ignore it! Sometimes those require documentation or responses within a certain timeframe. If you can t'get through on the phone, try uploading whatever they re'asking for through the document upload section in your dashboard.

Wow, an employer protest that doesn't show up on the dashboard - that's exactly the kind of hidden issue that keeps people trapped in limbo for months! I'm so glad you finally got it resolved @Gianni Serpent. This is a perfect example of why the PA UC system is so frustrating - critical information that directly affects your payments is completely invisible to claimants. For anyone else dealing with similar issues, this really highlights how important it is to actually speak with an agent, even if it takes using a service like Claimyr or going through your state rep. The dashboard clearly can't be trusted to show you everything that's affecting your claim status. @Henry Delgado - definitely take that quarterly review letter seriously and respond ASAP if it requires any action on your part. Sometimes those have tight deadlines that aren't clearly stated.
