Where is the closest NYS Department of Labor unemployment office to me - need help finding local office
I need to find the closest NYS Department of Labor unemployment office near me but I'm having trouble figuring out which one I should go to. I live in Syracuse and my unemployment claim has been stuck in adjudication for over a month now. I've tried calling the main number like 50 times but can never get through. I think I need to speak to someone in person about my case because there's some issue with my work history that I can't resolve online. Does anyone know which office I should visit or if they even do walk-ins anymore? I'm getting desperate here because my benefits have been on hold this whole time.

Most NYS Department of Labor offices don't do walk-ins for unemployment claims anymore since COVID. Everything is supposed to be handled online or by phone now. For Syracuse area you'd be looking at the Onondaga County office but they mainly handle job search services and workforce development programs in person. Unemployment claims are processed centrally through the Albany office.

•So there's no way to talk to someone face to face about my claim? This is so frustrating. The online system just keeps saying my case is under review with no details.

I had the same problem last year trying to get help with my adjudication. The Syracuse office on South State Street told me they couldn't help with unemployment claims when I showed up. They gave me a phone number that was the same one I'd been calling with no luck.

•That's because the local offices aren't equipped to handle individual claim issues anymore. All the unemployment claim specialists work out of the central processing centers. You really do need to get through on the phone unfortunately.

I was in a similar situation a few months ago and couldn't get through to NYS Department of Labor no matter what I tried. Someone on here recommended this service called Claimyr that helps you get connected to an actual agent. I was skeptical at first but checked out their video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI and decided to try it. They actually got me through to someone at the unemployment office who was able to explain what was holding up my claim. Might be worth looking into if you're stuck like I was. The website is claimyr.com.

•Did it actually work? I'm willing to try anything at this point. How long did it take them to get you connected?

•Yeah it worked for me. They got me connected within a couple days and I was able to sort out the issue with my previous employer's information that was causing the delay.

just keep calling the regular number early in the morning like 8am exactly when they open you'll get through eventually

•I've tried calling at 8am sharp multiple times and still get the busy signal or get disconnected after waiting on hold for an hour. The system is just overwhelmed.

The whole system is a mess honestly. I don't understand why they can't just hire more people to answer the phones instead of making everyone wait months for basic help.
