When does unemployment close - NYS Department of Labor office hours and deadlines?
I'm getting really confused about when the NYS Department of Labor unemployment office actually closes and what deadlines I need to worry about. I've been trying to call them about my pending claim but keep getting busy signals. Are there specific hours when the phone lines are open? Also, I heard something about deadlines for filing weekly claims - when do those close each week? I don't want to miss anything and mess up my benefits.

The NYS Department of Labor phone lines are typically open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but they get swamped with calls. For weekly claims, you have until the following Sunday at midnight to file for the previous week. So if you're filing for a week that ended on Saturday, you have until the next Sunday to get it submitted through the my.ny.gov portal.
