Tips for backdating UI claim? Successfully done it before, need help now
Hey everyone, I'm trying to backdate my unemployment claim. Has anyone had any luck with this recently? I've done it before, but I'm not sure if the process has changed. Any tips or experiences would be really helpful!

I actually managed to backdate my claim last month. It took some persistence, but it's definitely possible. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call early in the morning, right when the office opens 2. Be prepared with all your documentation - pay stubs, layoff notice, etc. 3. Explain your situation clearly and calmly 4. If the first agent can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor Good luck! It can be frustrating, but don't give up.

•This is super helpful, thanks for sharing! Did you have to provide any specific reason for backdating?

•In my case, I explained that I wasn't aware I could file immediately after losing my job. They were pretty understanding about it.

Backdating is such a headache. I've been trying for weeks and keep getting the runaround. Anyone else feeling like they're just talking to a brick wall? 🤦♂️

•Tell me about it! I feel like I'm stuck in an endless loop of hold music and unhelpful agents. It's driving me crazy!

•Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of waiting on hold. Totally worth the $20 imo.

•Wait, we have to PAY to talk to unemployment now? That's messed up. 😡

•I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not spending hours on hold was worth the cost.

Has anyone tried faxing in a request to backdate? I heard that sometimes works better than calling.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂

•Lol I know it sounds old school, but sometimes the old ways work best with government stuff 🤷♀️

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your calls, including date, time, and who you spoke with. It'll help if you need to escalate your case later.

•This is solid advice. I wish I'd done this from the beginning. Would've saved me so much hassle.

Anyone else notice that the success rate for backdating seems to vary depending on which agent you get? It's like playing unemployment roulette 🎰

•I've had better luck with the agents in the afternoon. Maybe they're in a better mood after lunch? 🍔

Thanks for posting this @Clarissa Flair! I'm in a similar situation and really need to backdate my claim. Reading through all these responses is giving me hope that it's still possible. I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning like @Caden Turner suggested. Does anyone know if there's a specific time window for how far back you can request to backdate? I lost my job about 6 weeks ago and just found out I could file for unemployment. 😰

•@Teresa Boyd I was in almost the exact same situation! I waited about 7 weeks before filing and was able to backdate successfully. From what I understand, you can typically go back up to 4 weeks without too much hassle, but beyond that it gets trickier. Since you re'at 6 weeks, you might need to provide a really solid reason for the delay - like not knowing you were eligible or having issues with the website. Don t'give up though! I ve'seen people get approved for longer backdating periods. Good luck tomorrow! 🤞
