New York Unemployment payment stopped - work search proof required after maternity
My payments stopped coming this week. Called unemployment and they said I need to prove I've been looking for work. I just had a baby so I sent them the birth certificate, but now they're saying I have to wait for a letter that was mailed Thursday. Anyone know how long this process usually takes to get payments started again?

Same thing happened to me last month. Took about 10 days to get the letter and another week to get my payments back. Make sure you document ALL your work searches going forward, even small stuff like indeed applications

Hey I found a way to actually get someone on the phone fast. Used this site claimyr.com - its a service that calls and waits on hold, then connects you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but was worth every penny for me. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•100% worked for me! Got through in like 45 mins instead of calling all day

They've been cracking down on work search requirements lately. You need to do minimum 3 job contacts per week and keep detailed records. Having a baby might qualify you for temporary exemption but you gotta explicitly request that 💯

Listen up, here's what you need to do: First, while waiting for the letter, start documenting EVERYTHING. Use their work search record form from the website. Include: - Job applications - Resume submissions - Career fair attendance (virtual counts) - Network contacts For your situation with the newborn, you might qualify for temporary medical exemption. Call them back (use claimyr.com to get through faster) and specifically ask about this. Keep copies of everything you submit. The birth certificate was good but they need ongoing proof of work search or valid exemption. Don't wait for the letter to start this process. Better to have too much documentation than not enough!
