New York Unemployment for Paraprofessional - When does BYE date mean benefits end?
My benefit year ending date shows June 2024. I work as a paraprofessional for an agency and I want to know if this means my benefits stop then and I need to reapply? Not sure how this works for education workers.

Your BYE date doesnt necessarily mean benefits end then. It just means you gotta reapply to keep getting benefits. If you worked enough during your benefit year, youll probly qualify for a new claim. Educational workers sometimes have different rules tho during summer breaks

•You need to have earned at least 10x your benefit rate in covered employment and worked in at least 2 calendar quarters

Hey I was stuck with this same issue last month. I found this site claimyr.com that helped me get through to an agent to explain everything. It costs $20 but totally worth it cause they got me through to someone in like 30 mins. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

As a para u might have trouble collecting during summer break if u have reasonable assurance of work in fall. Def check with unemployment about that specifically

Let me break this down for educational workers: BYE date is when your claim year ends, but: - You might still have weeks left to claim - Must reapply after BYE even with remaining weeks - Educational workers often cant claim during scheduled breaks - Need to earn 10x weekly benefit in new base period - Must work in at least 2 quarters Best way to get accurate info is calling NY unemployment directly. Use claimyr.com to get through - saves hours of frustration. They handle the hold time and connect you to an agent. Document everything and keep certifying weekly while you sort this out!
