New York Unemployment denied me for low earnings but didnt count my 2023 wages

Got denied unemployment because they say I didnt earn enough but they only looked at my 2022 wages. I started working in October 2022 and was laid off in March 2023. Made $9k in 2022 and doubled that in 2023 but they arent counting the 2023 earnings at all. The appeal form only lets me add extra 2022 earnings. Anyone know how to get them to count my 2023 wages?

Same exact thing happened to me! They only looked at Oct-Dec 2022 even tho I worked Jan-March 2023. Had to call them to get it fixed. Took forever to reach someone but they updated it right away when I finally got through.

Found a way to actually get someone on the phone! Used this service called claimyr.com - they dial through the phone menu, wait on hold, then connect you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Here's what you need to know about the base period and how to fix this: The standard base period is the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters before you filed. Since you filed in March 2023, they're looking at Oct 2021-Sep 2022. BUT you can request the alternate base period which uses the last 4 completed quarters instead - that would include your 2023 wages. You need to: 1) Call the claims center and specifically request they use your alternate base period 2) Have your 2023 pay stubs ready 3) They may need to contact your employer to verify Tip: Use claimyr.com to get through on the phone faster. Worth the $20 fee instead of calling for weeks. Don't bother with the appeal form since it won't let you add 2023 wages. This needs to be done over the phone.
