New York Unemployment: Governor's office not answering, need alternatives to reach a live agent
I've been trying to get through to someone at ny unemployment for weeks now. Calling the governor's office used to work, but that's not an option anymore. I've tried the regular unemployment number, but the wait times are insane. Does anyone know any other ways to actually talk to a real person? I'm getting desperate here and need to sort out my claim ASAP.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried that. Still no luck. It's like they have 2 people working the phones or something 🙄

•Same here. I set my alarm for 7:55 am and still couldn't get through. This system is a joke.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

•It's totally legit. You pay, give them your number, and they call you when they get an agent. Saved me a whole day of being on hold.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for a phone call 🤔

•I get it, but think about how much time you waste on hold. For me, it was worth every penny.

•This sounds like a scam. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment?

•It's not a scam, just a service. You're paying for the convenience. But I understand the frustration - we shouldn't need this in the first place.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

I've had some success with the online chat feature on the ny unemployment website. It's not perfect, but I've gotten a few issues resolved that way.

•Really? Every time I try the chat it says 'all agents are busy' 🙄

•You gotta be quick! I usually try right when they open in the morning.

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with NY unemployment for months now, and I've learned a few tricks. Here's what you need to know: • Timing is everything. Call at 7:59 AM, right before they open. Have the number ready to dial. • Use the online system as much as possible. Sometimes you can resolve issues without calling. • If you must call, be prepared. Have all your info ready, including your claim ID, social security number, and employment history. • Be persistent. If you can't get through one day, try again the next. • Consider using a service like claimyr.com. Yes, it costs money, but it can save you hours of frustration. • Reach out to your local representatives. They can sometimes expedite claims. • Join Facebook groups or other online communities for NY unemployment. People share tips and updates there. • Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what was said. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but don't give up. Your benefits are your right. Keep pushing until you get what you're owed. Good luck!

Pro tip: if you get through to someone who can't help, ask them to transfer you instead of hanging up and calling again. Sometimes you can bypass the wait that way.

I'm about ready to drive to Albany and camp outside their office until someone helps me. Anyone wanna join? We can make signs and everything 🏕️

•Careful, they might make you fill out a camping permit application and put you on hold for that too 💀
