How long for New York Unemployment claim approval?

Hey everyone, I just filed my unemployment claim in New York and I'm wondering how long it typically takes to get approved. Anyone have recent experience with this? I'm getting anxious waiting and could really use some insight. Thanks!

It can vary alot. I filed mine about 3 weeks ago and still waiting. Some people say it takes 2-3 weeks, others say it can take up to 6 weeks. Hang in there!

Ugh, 6 weeks?! That's so long. I hope it doesn't take that long for me. Thanks for the info tho!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. It just automates the calling process. Saved me hours of frustration!

Mine took exactly 4 weeks and 2 days. But I had to call them twice to fix some issues with my claim. If everything is filled out correctly, it might be faster.

Here's what I know from my experience and research: ā€¢ Typical processing time is 2-6 weeks ā€¢ If your claim is straightforward (W2 employee, clear layoff), it's usually faster ā€¢ Self-employed or mixed income can take longer ā€¢ Make sure all info is correct to avoid delays ā€¢ Keep certifying weekly even while waiting ā€¢ If it's been over 4 weeks, try to contact them If you need to reach them, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that calls for you, waits on hold, and connects you when an agent is available. Costs $20 but saved me days of frustration. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP!

Anyone else notice how the wait times seem to get longer every year? I remember when it used to take like a week tops šŸ™„

Pro tip: if u haven't heard back in 3 weeks, reach out to ur local state representative. They can sometimes speed things up!
