CA EDD claim processing taking forever - any tips to speed it up?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to process my unemployment claim and it's been a while. I'm in California and I'm wondering if anyone knows how long it typically takes? I've been waiting for what feels like forever and I'm getting worried. Any advice or experiences you can share?

Here's what I've learned from my experience with California EDD: • Processing times vary wildly, from a few weeks to several months • The online system is often glitchy, so keep trying if it doesn't work • Document EVERYTHING. Save screenshots, write down who you talked to and when • If you can get through on the phone, be super nice to the rep. They're overwhelmed too • Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there • If you have a complex case (like mixed income or worked in multiple states), it'll take longer • Don't give up! Keep following up and advocating for yourself Hope this helps, OP. Hang in there!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely start documenting everything better.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat and it's been a nightmare. I've been waiting for over 2 months now and still nothing. The EDD system is so backed up its ridiculous.

2 months? That's nothing. I've been waiting since March! 😤 This whole system is a joke.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can speed things up.

I heard theres a huge backlog bc of all the fraud cases they had to deal with. Apparently scammers were filing fake claims left and right and now the legit ones are getting caught in the crossfire 🙄

I actually found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get my claim sorted. Beats waiting for months 🤷♂️

Pro tip: if you're really desperate, reach out to your local state representative. They sometimes have connections and can help push your claim through faster.

This! 👆 My cousin did this and got her claim processed in like a week after months of waiting.

how do you even find out who your local rep is?

Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have websites with contact info.
