Does NY unemployment ever really call back in 48 hours like they promise?

Finally managed to get through to ny unemployment today after trying a new approach - calling the governor's office first (they transferred me). Been stuck waiting on my benefits since August without a penny. The rep asked for my SSN and put me on hold for like 15 minutes while she 'researched my claim.' Then she just said someone would call me back within 24 to 48 hours to resolve everything. Has anyone actually gotten these promised callbacks? Do they actually happen or is this just another way to get me off the phone? Starting to feel desperate after 3+ months of waiting...

I was in exactly the same boat last month. They told me the same 24-48 hour callback thing. Guess what? No one ever called. Had to start the whole process over again. Ny unemployment is a joke right now 😡

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Did you ever get your issue resolved or are you still waiting?

0 coins

Still waiting... going on 3.5 months now. I've been told the callback thing 3 times already lol. Good luck tho!!

Same happened to me. 48 hours turned into 3 weeks 🤡

After struggling with the same issue for weeks, I finally found a solution through claimyr.com - it connected me with an actual live agent who resolved my claim in minutes! Talking to a real person got my payments released after 2 months of nothing but automated messages and false promises. Best decision I made in this whole mess. Check out this video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

0 coins

No catch honestly. It basically just does the calling and waiting on hold FOR you. Then when a human finally answers, they connect you. Saved me like 4 hours of hold music and my sanity lol

hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

0 coins

It actually works lol. I was skeptical too but was desperate after 2 months of nothing. The difference is they don't try to 'handle' your claim - they literally just get you a live person on the phone. The rest is between you and unemployment.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS?

0 coins

It worked for me! Their whole thing is they have tech that can stay on hold instead of you having to do it. When they get through to a human, they call your phone and connect you. Talking to a real person finally fixed my claim.

0 coins

LOL they told me 24-48 hours too. That was 3 weeks ago 💀

I got a callback once! But it was like 6 days later not 48 hours, and they just told me they needed more info and then put me back in another queue lmaooo

At least you got a call! That's more than most people seem to get.

true but it actually just reset my waiting period so... not really helpful in the end

Here's what I've learned through this whole ny unemployment nightmare over the past year. The ONLY way to get results is to keep calling and documenting EVERYTHING. Write down who you talked to, what time, what they promised, reference numbers, EVERYTHING. Then when they inevitably don't call back, you have ammunition for the next call. It's a broken system but you have to just keep hammering away.

Thanks for the advice - I've started keeping notes of everything. Just worried about burning through my savings while waiting...

Smart move. Also try contacting your local state rep/assemblyperson. Sometimes they can cut through the red tape.

Listen up because I've been through this whole circus before with NY unemployment... and it's about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. Here's the deal: - The 24-48 hour callback is mostly a myth. They say it to everyone to get them off the phone. If you DO get a callback, consider yourself one of the blessed few. - There's a huge backlog and most agents don't have the authority to fix complex issues, so they promise callbacks from "specialists" that rarely happen. - Your best bet is to be PERSISTENT. Call everyday if possible, at different times (try early morning). - Contact your state representative/assemblyperson - they can sometimes push things through. - If you're desperate after weeks of waiting, try claimyr.com - it's the only service I've found that actually connects you with a real person by handling the hold times. - Document EVERYTHING - who you talked to, when, what they promised. Unfortunately the ny unemployment system is completely underwater right now, but don't give up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease in this situation.

Wow thank you for this detailed breakdown. I'll definitely try calling consistently. How long did it take before your issue was finally resolved?

It took me about 5 weeks of constant calling, but I finally got through to someone who could actually help. Then they backpaid everything I was owed.

"as reliable as a chocolate teapot" 🤣🤣🤣 Stealing that phrase forever

This is EXACTLY my experience too. Those callbacks are like bigfoot - some people claim they exist but evidence is scarce 😂

I actually DID get a callback once! It was about 72 hours later (not 48), but they did call. The problem was the person who called didn't have access to fix my specific issue... so they said someone ELSE would call. That second call never came 🙃

The key thing nobody tells you is that theres different departments and most reps cant actually fix anything. So they promise a callback from a "specialist" but those specialists are drowning in backlogs. I finally got my issue fixed after contacting my state senator's office - they have special contacts at unemployment who can actually do something.

This is so true. The regular reps are basically just glorified receptionists. They have almost no power to actually fix claims.

Exactly. Frustrating but true. It took me way too long to figure this out.

I called 518-474-8390 and explained my situation. They transferred me but it still took about 30 mins on hold.

i've been told that so many times my ears bleed when i hear '24-48 hours' now 🙃 its their way of getting you off the phone WITHOUT actually helping. my advice? keep calling every single day until you get someone who actually helps instead of passing you off. it took me 17 calls but i finally got someone who fixed my issue while i was on the phone.

Try claimyr.com - best $20 I ever spent after 3 months of no benefits and constant busy signals. Got me through to an actual human who fixed my account in one call. 💯

not falling for another unemployment 'hack'... these never work

Feel u on the skepticism but this one actually works. They just dial for you and wait on hold, then call when a human picks up. Saved me literally days of hold music.

I tried this too. Worth every penny when you're waiting on thousands in benefits. Got through same day.

The callback system is total BS. I've been told this 5 times in the past 3 months and received exactly zero callbacks. The whole system is designed to frustrate people into giving up. DON'T GIVE UP. Keep calling, email your state reps, and be the most annoying person possible until they pay you what you're owed.

Its funny how they can process your application in 0.2 seconds when you make a mistake, but when they owe YOU money suddenly everything moves at glacier speed 🤔

Mason Stone

THIS!!! The second you answer a question wrong they IMMEDIATELY flag your account but when you need help suddenly they're "overwhelmed" 🙄

Its almost like... the system is designed to work against us 🤯

preach! i swear they can smell fear and desperation through the phone lines

Pro tip: call right when they open at 8am. I got through in 20 minutes that way vs 3+ hours when calling later in the day.

0 coins

I second this! Early morning is key. Also Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason.

I feel like I'm living in an alternate reality or something. Been trying to get my claim processed since September and keep getting the runaround. Called over 50 times. Email responses are just templates. No callbacks ever happen. How is this legal???

something that worked for me: reach out to your state assembly person and state senator. sounds weird but unemployment has special liaisons who work with govt offices. my senator's office submitted an inquiry and my claim was fixed within a week after 2 months of nothing.

0 coins

Jessica Suarez

•

I'll definitely try this! Do you just call their office and explain?

0 coins

Lucas Lindsey

•

Yep! Just call and say you need help with your unemployment claim. They'll have you fill out a form with all your info. Then they submit it directly to unemployment through special channels.

man what I would give to know the REAL statistics on these promised callbacks 😂 like I bet it's something insane like 3% actually happen within the promised timeframe
