If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I was in a similar situation last year - mostly freelance work but had some regular employment mixed in. The key is understanding what counts toward your base period. NYS Department of Labor only considers W2 wages from employers who paid unemployment taxes on your behalf. 1099 income doesn't count at all unfortunately.

this is so helpful thank you everyone!! I had no idea about the base period thing

Just want to echo what others said - unemployment and credit are completely unrelated. I work in banking and can confirm that unemployment benefit information is not shared with credit reporting agencies. Your credit score is based on payment history, credit utilization, length of credit history, types of credit, and new credit inquiries. Government benefit programs like UI don't factor in at all.

omg I had this same panic when I got laid off during covid!! spent like 2 hours googling this exact question lol. but yeah everyone's right, totally separate things. just make sure you don't miss any credit card or loan payments while you're on unemployment

yeah you should be fine for benefits. i got fired for failing a drug test years ago and still got unemployment (different situation but point is they dont just deny everyone who gets fired). background check stuff is usually not considered work misconduct unless you lied about it which it sounds like you didn't

One more thing - when you file, be prepared for the employer to contest your claim. They might argue it was misconduct even though it wasn't work-related. If that happens, you'll get a chance to explain your side during the adjudication process. Keep any documentation showing you disclosed the background information during hiring.

Good point about keeping documentation. I do have emails from when I first disclosed everything to HR during the hiring process.

The whole mailed check system is outdated honestly. I switched to direct deposit after my first payment took 8 days to arrive. NYS Department of Labor really should push people toward direct deposit more - it's 2025, who wants to wait for checks in the mail?

just wanted to say congrats on getting approved! the waiting is the worst part. once you get that first check and set up direct deposit you'll be all good

I had similar confusion and spent weeks trying to get through to NYS Department of Labor by phone to clarify. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually reach a real person - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. The agent was able to explain all the weekly claim requirements clearly and confirmed I was doing everything correctly.

How long did it take to get through with that service? I've been trying to call for weeks and either get busy signals or hang ups.

The whole 'by definition' thing is just NYS Department of Labor being bureaucratic as usual. They make everything sound more complicated than it needs to be. Just keep applying to jobs and don't lie on your weekly claims - that's really all there is to it.
