"Where's My Refund Tool Shows 'Currently Unavailable' Error Despite Correct Information Entry"

Been trying to check my refund status but the Where's My Refund tool keeps giving me issues. I went to sa.www4.irs.gov/wm to check my refund status, but I keep getting error messages. The site shows "We are sorry Where's My Refund is currently unavailable. Please try Where's My Refund again later." When I try again, it asks me to "Get Refund Status" and requires me to "Please enter your Social Security Number, Tax Year, your Filing Status, and the Refund Amount as shown on your tax return." There's a note that "All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required." Then it asks for "Social Security Number" with an explanation to "Enter the SSN or ITIN shown on your tax return. Example: 123-45-6789" I know I'm putting everything in right because I'm looking right at my return. I've double-checked my SSN, filing status, and refund amount multiple times. What's weird is when I check my spouse's refund info using the exact same tool, it works perfectly fine with no errors. Has anyone else encountered this "We are sorry Where's My Refund is currently unavailable" message? Is the system having issues or is there something wrong with my information specifically? Any suggestions on how to fix this or alternative ways to check my refund status?

This is actually pretty common right now. Make sure you're entering the EXACT amount from your return - down to the penny. Also, if you filed jointly, try entering the primary taxpayer's SSN first. If that doesn't work, wait 24 hours and try again. The tool updates overnight.

Then you might need to call them directly. The tool can be glitchy sometimes

Hey, I was having the same headache until I found taxr.ai - it's this tool that reads your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on. It costs $4.99 but saved me hours of frustration. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? Seems kinda sketch putting transcript info into a random site 🤔

100% legit. They use bank-level encryption and don't store your data. Was skeptical at first too but it's actually endorsed by tax pros

How exactly does it work? Does it just read the transcript or what?

Double check if you filed an amended return. That can mess with the WMR tool sometimes

Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes the IRS website gets stuck with old session data. Also make sure you're using the refund amount from line 35a of your 1040 (not what you expect to get after withholdings). I had this exact issue last year and it turned out I was using the wrong amount from my return.
